I think we can go without internet for a week or two. For entertainment, I'll just take videos of by neighbors wandering aimlessly on the street. It will make great footage for The REAL Walking Dead documentary, and I'll post once Starlink kicks in.
As much as it would be nice I think that's when they would try and roll out their plan since Noone can talk to each other in real time to prepare for activities
Get cb radio. Full disclaimer I have two star links. Make sure you have the home version. It gets first priority. I also have the rv version it gets deprioritized.
We paid money down to get on waitlist (it would go towards the final payment). After about six months we got our money back. Don’t know when it’s available here. It would be worth the extra money to get a decent connection. In rural NC we are paying for ten speed and barely get eight. My dad is next door with twenty speed. They say it’s not available and can’t look at his account. I get that because privacy is important. What ticks me off is twenty speed is available but they won’t give it. Only reason we got internet about fifteen (apx) years ago is we live beside a school. That’s with Centurylink now Brightspeed. My family has a house at the coast and Spectrum internet is 250 speed. Like everything else money talks. More homes and businesses at the coast.
I’d borrow someone’s Starlink to see if it works on your property. If it does I would then order one usi my someone’s address who is in area that can be ordered but make sure it’s rv version so that they allow you to use it anywher you go other than the address it was ordered at.
ham radio, get your license and the exams will teach you what you might not know. Yes, if things go to hell a license won't matter, but if you get your license you will use it and practice with the radio and gain confidence. You don't open the wrapper on emergency gear and try to figure it out when the emergency hits, you practice and get familiar with it, so when the emergency hits, you have confidence in the tools. Same goes for shooting, first aid, emergency food cooking(which a lot haven't done), starting a fire, vehicle repair, etc.

Wow ... for residential, $110/mo with a one-time hardware cost of $599.
$135/mo with a one-time cost of $599 for portable hardware or $2,500 for in-motion hardware.
Can't afford $600 just to get this.
Oh wow, I had no idea it was a pay per play thing. I thought musk would just activate it if regular net went down.
wtf this is the alternative? either go under or pay this to drain my entire bank account every month??
