One of the main uses of megadoses of B3 that is mentioned in the article is for schizophrenia. Hoffer wrote a book entitled "How to Live With Schizophrenia" way back in the '50's, I believe. My sister in about June of 1975 flipped out and we took her to a hospital where she was diagnosed as schizophrenic, drugged and after a week or two released. She appeared zombie like and she was supposed to go see a psychiatrist, but eventually said they were crazier than her and stopped. She was 23 at the time. It took most of the year for the drugs to get out of her system.
She was going to nursing school and got pregnant and in March of 1976 had her baby and after a few days, flipped out again. When I say that...I mean exhibiting extremely unusual behavior that would be considered very abnormal. A doctor I knew prescribed us some Thorazine to give her to be able to control her until we could get her into a psych ward. She went to one hospital and was actually kicked out for running around naked. Also, in talking to the doctors, I heard them prescribing the Thorazine in extremely higher than recommended amounts (according to drug insert) and the doctor told me there was no hope for her. After she was kicked out, we had her committed to the state institution and I went to the library and got every book I could find on mental illness. I read every one of them.
That is when I came across the work of Abram Hoffer in Canada via his book "How to Live with Schizophrenia" where he described his experiments with B3 and the benefits he saw in multiple settings, including bringing people out of bad LSD trips. There were indications that schizophrenia was closely related to alcoholism and various other mental disorders. I found that there were people practicing Orthomolecular Psychiatry and we got my sister out of the institution and took her to an orthomolecular psychiatrist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he prescribed a protocol that had high doses of B3 and various other things, including C and a few other things. That reversed her behavior and from that day forward she never exhibited any signs of schizophrenia. Hoffer believes it was hereditary with 1% of the population worldwide being schizophrenic. She went on to have more children and if she ever felt herself slipping would just get back on the protocol. She died in 1992 of breast cancer but was able to lead a normal life up until her death.
I have the book, "Orthomolecular Medicine for Everyone" written by Abram Hoffer and Andrew Saul. Hoffer opened a clinic in NY and continued for the rest of his life treating and utilizing the orthomolecular protocols to help people with all kinds of disorders. His work and writings are phenomenal, and he certainly saved my sister from a lifetime of drugs and being institutionalized. After Dr. Hoffer passed away, his work has continued, and I recently read some of the advancements made by researchers as it regards mental disorders, using the orthomolecular approach. The fact that advancements have been ongoing in this field is quite exciting and they have isolated some other contributing factors to schizophrenia, depression and other mental health issues. The benefit to the treatment of alcoholism is also significant as this article points out. I would just encourage anyone with mental disorders of ANY kind to do some research into this brilliant man's work and find some of the new studies and work that is being done. I guarantee the medical profession wants your loved ones drugged for life and rendered unable to function. But Hoffer was a brilliant humanitarian...a blessing to psychiatric patients everywhere.
THANK you for this. A loved one suffers from alcoholism and it is so very frustrating. He fell off the wagon after rehab and almost 2 years of sobriety. I am sending him a link to this book I found. The comments on Amazon are overwhelmingly positive.
Alcoholic here, got sober in 2017. I’ve taken a B-Complex twice a day since quitting. I’m around alcohol all the time and never have a thought of drinking. AA was still essential in the beginning to understand what I was doing to myself and others.
If you are a praying person, pray for my family. I can't take it anymore. He has been to AA and rehab, did really well for a long time after the last go around. Your story gives me hope. Six years is darned impressive.
Done.
Please, don’t forget to look after yourself as well. Alcoholics too often choose to sink themselves, those that care must remember not to let themselves sink as well.
Has he read or listened to Allen Carrs easy way method to control alcohol? Don’t let the title fool you, it is to stop drinking permanently. You can get the audiobook free using an audible trial.
I quit smoking after 18 years of smoking after listening to his quit smoking audiobook, 26 days so far, and it was easy. It basically removes all the brainwashing using repeated logic of why there is no genuine pleasure in the addiction. Once that happens, the craving goes, the struggle goes, and it’s easy to quit.
Alcoholism also runs in my family...just got bad news about a DUI car accident my daughter was involved in...I HATE ALCOHOL with every fiber of my being. But I am glad I was reminded of this research today because I will certainly be utilizing it very soon. Everything happens at exactly the right time...God bless your family...
Knowledge is power!
So sorry about your daughter I hope she is okay. I am obsessed with researching this issue. I truly wouldn't wish this disease on my worst enemy. It is torturous and devastating to the afflicted person and everyone around him/her. And I have been through enough programs to have met and have watched dozens of people with so much promise and so much to lose, slowly kill themselves and drain their family to the point of exhaustion. It sucks. Royally.
Well, let's see...2 wrecked cars, the other person hospitalized, she is in jail, she is in school, and will probably miss some now, is a licensed social worker and may have her license suspended (she was coming home from a patient) and may lose her job...other than that everything is fine...you know how it goes with things like this,,,it is a domino effect and truthfully it is very hard to make everything right after such stupid behavior. But her and the other person are okay...thank God. But this is what this addiction does...it doesn't make any sense...she is 38 and has 2 kids. I am pretty angry at her stupidity. It's as you say...exhausting...and so very destructive.
Never, ever, ever give up...the answer is out there. If you believe in God...pray...he has ALWAYS led me to where I needed to go and what I needed to know. It is so worth it to find real answers to real problems. God bless you on your new journey.

If you go to the home page of the site above, it will have a ton of categories to chose from: www.doctoryourself.com
Maybe this will help, maybe not. But worth looking into it?
