The plane was rigged with a taped explosive that would blow the tail off when it descended to a set altitude. JFK Jr and Bisset never got on the plane. Rather it was flown by a specialist who bailed out of the plane after setting it on autopilot descent, triggering the explosion.

Sorry, but you thought wrong.
Yes, it was intentional misdirection to make it look like Washington, but clearly the focus was HW Bush who was one of the key conspirators involved in JFK assassination. His exact role is probably still classified, per his apparent "legacy deal" and State Funeral in 2018.
Apparently. Reading more in this thread I'm seeing the motivation for his naming the mag after Bush. Wow! Pretty spicy. I guess I assumed it was Washington bc if I remember correctly, the first issue had Cindy C dressed as Washington.
