Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an intergral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on it's evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I was stranded in Bern this weekend, but I could do plenty: tidying, cooking, my tax declaration (including a business and a liberal activity)… I even played music and began assembling the music for a middle-aged rock anthem. All this with a crippling hip ache (which fortunately begins fading away).
Highlight of these days? Seeing how u/NewbieQbie got welcomed when she asked for prayers. I AM PROUD OF THIS COMMUNITY!🤩🔥❤️🙏🏻
love you and this community ❤️
Hello LQdy!🤗❤️
How was Sunday with the little Angel?👼🏻
It was nice. We visited with some family. How as yours?
I am glad you could spend quality time with your little one. May i ask how you are doing at this moment? Working?
I am a computer scientist administering complex systems for a big Swiss Insurance Company.
I spend the week end alone and fixed stuff, cooked, made the tax declaration, played piano and synthesizers…
I had a bad left hip ache which finally went but as I adapted, it’s my right k ee which is giving me hell today. I will put some gel after a hot shower and also take a painkiller. Luckily it’s not that often.🥺
Get some Magnesium oil on your hip, will feel better soon. Make your own by dissolving crystals in a warm place. Just keep it off broken skin or it will sting.
I’m sorry about your hip but impressed you’re so active. I don’t want to state the obvious but have you tried heat on it? A heating pad or hot tub/bath? Have you ever tried Salon Pas? It’s a patch with analgesics. I’m not sure if it really delivers meds to the area or if the minty cooling feeling is a useful distraction but I use it with good results, even for headache. Last thing- do you have a massager? Massage brings blood flow to the area, helping healing. Idk, I’ve noticed you mentioning it in a few comments and I wish you could get relief. I’m a “two Aleve” every morning type but these are just some ideas that I know can help. You work so hard here for us. Prayers incoming.
Hello Fren, thanks for your suggestions. I take hot showers and use voltaren gel. I am fighting against myself not to cross my legs and learning to use my breath to cut the pain. Thanks for your prayers, God bless your generous and altruistic self.🙏🏻
When I hit 68, I had to opt for a hip replacement, or else I would have stopped walking. For the two years before it, I had started having trouble, thought it was sciatica or the piriformis syndrome. Then I started falling and losing balance, they discovered that my hip bone was wittled away and the socket was loaded with bone spurs. I opted for surgery, it was not as easy as some said it would be, my recovery went fine, but not being able to be as mobile as I wanted to be was so hard. Within a year, I never knew I had it and been able to do all the walking, hiking, etcc I want to. One symptom that I did not know was the groin muscle pain, right where the leg meets the crotch, my god that hurt. The orthopedic man told me that was a big symptom. I did not know, I thought it was a pulled muscle. You probably know this, but sitting is not good or comfortable with a bad hip, reclining or putting your legs up in the right position helps.
Sounds like you went through quite an ordeal. I am relieved for you that you now refer to it as a thing of the past. I pray you remain healthy and serene.🙏🏻
Stay awesome, fren!
You too, Fren! Thanks!🙏🏻
I thought you lived in Seeth Ifricah?
Nope Fren, that would be u/Purkiss80 …
Ah, mea culpa. Need to watch my Pees.
As regards your hip, if it's wear & tear then not much will help until [they] release the secret of cell regeneration.
If it's inflammation caused by a faulty autoimmune response then anti-inflammatories can help, including turmeric with black pepper and possibly Ivermectin.
I take turmeric and nigella sativa. Also a daily protocol of vitamin d3, zinc and quercetin.
In July I will notice my strict 10 years into a keto diet and in April my third OMAD year.
