I told a colleague of Zanzibarian ancestry that we have a stereotype in America of black people eating fried chicken and watermelon. He added, "We eat green beans too!"
Only racists would associate any food with a particular race unless it was something the race claims pertaining to said race. So who were the racists that brought this up in the first place?
I saw another video lately where they asked predominantly white sororities why there were so few visible minorities and what their diversity plans were. All those they asks seemed shocked and that they had never considered it before. Clearly thinking about the race of their sorority members was not on mind, which is what NOT being racist looks like.
Then they asked black girls why they don't join the sororities, and they all said because they were "too white" and that it was "clear they had no diversity and inclusion policy"
Like... WHO ARE THE RACISTS!?
The sad thing is that the media is ruining the minds of these people. They literally believe because they are black they are hated by whites, and the only way in to a "fair" society is to make special arrangements for them.
Fuck that. If you want to join the sorority WOMAN UP and fucking join! Don't be a racist! BE THE CHANGE! WTF it makes me so mad. Truth is nobody gives a shit if YOU are there or not, get over yourself and your racist ways.
What about collard greens with Tabasco vinegar?
YUMMY!!!
I ate at Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles in ATL-- I was impressed and would go back in am instant!! Who knew? Chicken + waffles = yummy
I drive past a billboard advertising chicken and waffles all the time. They spend a couple thousand dollars per month advertising them so they must be extremely popular.
so they refused to eat the offensively themed meal, right?
Who is making the issue here? I bet you its not the children. Kids love chicken, waffles, and watermelon.
Probably either a Teacher or a liberal parent wanting to be “virtuous”.
Lol, chicken and waffles and watermelon is racial now? 🤣
Just good food, tbh.

don't forget the okra.
Biscuits and gravy with an egg on top. Hell yes.
I suppose they could serve spaghetti to be more culturally sensitive?
What difference does it honestly make? Kids won't have any problem with it. It's the parents who throw a fit.
I seem to remember that Chili's had chicken and waffles on the menu. One variant was 2700 calories 😂
ihop had them. I don't ever recall it at chili's.
It has been 3-4 years since I ate a USA Chili's.
So the stereotype is true and confirmed? Inadvertently seems so from their reaction.
What's funny is, if this had been labeled "in celebration of", it'd have been applauded. Just silly.

Exactly.

Celebrate our month but not with our food?
