I’ve paid in more than I’ve ever paid in my life and I’m getting back less than I’ve ever gotten. Am I required to file? I don’t accept and agree to this shit, it’s bananas

should be required reading .....in every school
There was just something on the news tonight...something something the IRS recommending people delay filing this year, until they get rulings sorted out with respect to payments made to citizens in certain states. Sorry, I wasn't paying any more attention than that.
I talked to a tax preparer last week. She said that everyone was getting either much smaller refunds this year, or were having to pay $$$$.
Who knew that the Covid 'stimulus' free money give-away had consequences?
It isn't the stimulus. What is causing this decrease in refunds is the sham infrastructure bill choked through Congress by Cocaine Mitch McConnell and Nasty Nancy Pelosi.
I was hoping not to file this year. May will file my state returns. But I'm hoping for a complete and total collapse to give me a good reason not to.
I filed Jan. 28th electronically through H&R Block. Just received State and Federal refund TODAY right to my bank account.
Don’t feel lonely fren. I had to sell my SUV to pay a substantial amount for the first time in my life.
I got a small raise this year and a decent bonus, put me over the 139K mark (apparently i''m the rich - not so if you live in CA) and I didn't have to pay, but just barely, got a couple hundred back from the FEDS, but i paid ALOT of taxes last year. All the standard plus, half my bonus and basically nothing back, even with my mortgage interest deduction. I should have seen 3-5K come back.
taxation is voluntary...when you sign the w-4....you give permission
What about fica. W4 doesn’t get you out of that.
