Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an intergral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on it's evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Looking for places to volunteer for construction work and its making me want to flip over some tables seeing Habitat for Humanity require proof of jab to volunteer. A supposedly Christian organization yet how many times do we see Jesus and the apostles welcome those who are actually sick.
On top of that their statement now includes statements on equity and diversity.
Check with local churches. Some have crews that work emergencies only in their area, while others send crews 2-3 hours away to help in emergencies. In areas that have been damaged by winds/ tornados/ fires/ floods, when you see someone rebuilding, ask if they need help. If you see new construction going on in a community, go on the property and talk with one of the workers. Go to big box stores where people would buy lumber and materials, and chat with people buying, and with workers who wear their company uniform, or drive the company truck. My house was destroyed by a tornado, and with limited funds to rebuild, I've seen or engaged in all the above hunting for construction workers and help cleaning up.
I think I’ll do that. I recently started attending church but the one i go to doesn’t have anything organized for what I’m looking for.
I’m not looking for a job, i don’t have a construction background, just looking to be active and help out while i have some time on my hands.
They are not Jesus or his apostles, so don't pay them much attention. If you can't find work with Habitat, then think about getting a group of people together and have them work on homes for you. I know you may have the budget, but that is how they control us, with their money. With this inflation you will need more money than in the past. Too bad Habitat is so woke.
I guess my issue is them advertising as a Christian organization and specifically excluding people because they want to apply pressure on people to get the jab. It didn’t take much reading of the gospels to realize Jesus was preaching to love everyone and that his teachings were specifically so all are welcome to the Kingdom of Heaven.
I wasn’t looking for a house through habitat, i just wanted to volunteer but i will find somewhere else.
wanna volunteer to an old woman who has a son with zero carpentry experience? I would feed you good, all I need is a wall put up in the basement and some doors hung, maybe a small deck outiside my front door. Maybe frame a greenhouse! I also grow some awesome dank weed if that interests you.
Well, it looks like the parallel economy must be led by us. Not easy to start hospice services, but construction volunteering might be able to be organized first as a fix-it workshop through a based church or (I forget the name, but the org that started from the guys jumping out of boy scouts) Trails something something America...
We're going to have to find new ways to group together, help each other, and provide outreach to keep converting and red pilling...
Trail life.
This. 👆
Same with hospice.
When I applied for a waiver the interviewer began to question me about all my medical decisions. I refused to let my privacy be violated, so they lost me as a volunteer.
