This statue is the highest point on the island with lightning rod protection and gets hit frequently by lightning. It's not a sign from God. There's enough crazy stuff going on, we don't have to make things up.

Is he being re-charged for a comeback, perhaps?

I dunno, i assume is a single frame taken from a video feed directed at brazils most famous landmark.

Wait, a giant lightning rod atop the highest point on an island gets struck by lightning in a storm?
This happens many times a year and is not anywhere near an "eyes-on" event.
