I buy Goya products whenever I have a choice of brands, because several years ago they got involved in another left-right controversy, the details of which I cannot recall right now. But I made up my mind that Goya was on the right side of the issue.
The president said something the left didn't like, so they called for a boycott of Goya. So Goya sales jumped.
Yeah thanks, it was something like that. Anyway, I've added Goya to my permanent shopping list when I need beans, chick peas, and other such stuff.
Also, Goya CEO Bob Unanue is a DJT ally. He supported him several times and spoke on at least one occasion on the WH lawn alongside Trump. He's a based dude from a family of immigrants from Spain that have built up a great brand. He is also an election denier. Very much on par with PillowMan I'd say, just with less flamboyance.
Here's more on him related to recent politics:
In July 2020, Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue visited the White House and pledged one million cans of Goya chickpeas to food banks, saying "Americans are truly blessed to have a leader like Donald Trump." The comments sparked some negative reactions and calls for a boycott of Goya Foods, which in turn sparked counter-boycotts in support of Goya. On 7 December 2020, CEO Robert Unanue stated that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was named "employee of the month" after her boycott call led to a tenfold sales spike. On January 20, 2021, Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue claimed on Fox Business that the novel coronavirus was used by the Democratic party, media, and technology elites to control the American public and steal the 2020 US presidential election: “I think this is mission accomplished — mission accomplished by the union, the partnership, the conglomerate of social media, Big Tech, big media, and government, big government — for ushering in the dawn of a new world order, this Great Reset, with an unverified election.”
That's it, thank you.
Same. Easy enough to do since their stuff is actually good.
Love their salad and vegetable seasoning! Its spices in packettes that you add to oil and vinegar! Outstanding....try it out.
Strongly recommend their salsa verde. Phenomenal on tacos
He is VERY much pro 45. See my comment above.
Things really took off after AOC mouthed off . Went right out and bought Goya everything.
I wish I could afford Goya. It's the most expensive brand in the Food Lion. I've been buying flats of store brands at Walmart and Aldi. I might buy some later after I get more money.
After we clean out the trash in DC, we can all afford the better things in life.
Their sales went up over 400% by March of 2020, mostly due to people stocking up on beans due to Covid uncertainty, and then doubled in Q3 and Q4!
I work as an FSR in grocery stores. Know who carries largest selection of Goya products?
Walmart
Unless you're in Miami, then it's all over! But yeah everywhere else I find little sections except for Walmart.
The issue as I recall was LGBTQ calling for Goya to include gay couples in their ads and commercials. Goya responded that they would continue to focus on traditional family values. I started buying Goya products then as well.
I think that was Barilla (the pasta brand), but could be mistaken. Could have been Goya too. The rainbows seem to want to poke their peckers into EVERYTHING
Yeah, it may have been Barilla, because I try to buy that brand. So many of these attacks, they run together after a while. 🫢
True that. And almost all of those lib attacks backfire, which makes it all the better. Every brand would be wise to go public in pro-45 fashion, have the libs scream "boycott!" and watch the sales soar.
The great Buycott backfire.
I brought a couple hundred dollars worth of Goya goods back in 2020. I still have them and since they won't expire for yet another couple of years, we will be okay for food for a while...
