I gave up on country music a long time ago. Used to love it. I quit listening about the time this guy was pushed at us. It’s coincidentally around the same time Alan Jackson and George Strait released the song Murder on Music row to protest the changes in the country music industry.
Thankfully there’s a lot of good old country music to listen to.
90's country and back for me too. Nowadays crap is just absolute trash that sounds more like a crappy rap song than country.
I haven’t given up, I still love it even if I just listen over and over George Alan Alabama you know the classic ones. The new ones can go somewhere else.
Two songs I feel like are anthems for me in these times:
Hank Jr. - A Country Boy Can Survive
Charlie Daniels - Long Haired Country Boy
You’re right, I listen to the old stuff, the new stuff doesn’t even qualify as bad rock and roll anymore.
Good choice. Randy Travis -deeper than the holler and Reba - Is there life out there? but I like I said old ones are all good for me.
I was shocked when I heard he wrote a song about Zelenskyy & his bravery- 🤮
Any country music musician that sings in a country accent and then gives interviews and sounds like they are a 6 o'clock news caster, avoid them.
Like an Australian w deep southern twang... but only while singing
Looking at YOU, Florida Georgia Line boys... (hard eyeroll)
“polished pop country crap” (lyric from “My Texas” by the Josh Abbott Band featuring Pat Green) Nashville is dead.
It’s garbage. Find yourself some Texas, Red Dirt, or Outlaw Country.
If it’s missing a fiddle, a steel guitar, a mandolin, or a banjo; it ain’t Country. (you need at least one of these in every song) Hell, even put a piano in there. It can’t just be guitars and drums. Edit: Throw in some harmonica as well.
My favorite is Cody Jinks, but there are many others.
I happened to be waiting in a place yesterday playing that modern country. It is all about good-timing. It has no soul or character AT ALL.
I told a person one time, "When play Country Music backward, the guy leaves his barstool, gets his stolen pickup back, his dog comes back to life, & his wife comes back home. Happy ending!
I don't listen to country music anymore. I like old rock and roll and pop.
Nashville's been shit for 20 years now. Compromised by corporate music interests
I’m thinking more like 40 years honestly but I came here to say the same thing lol
All country music singers sound the same to me. It makes the music really hard to enjoy and makes the genre seem uncreative.
Always has been.
Point Being Taken here- Universal Music Group (GLOBALIST AGENDA) came in and bought up a lot of big labels so they can control music culture and musicians. THIS is the same tactic that has occurred in many industries. Don't ask me to believe that Tencent actually paid Billions of his own money fir a 10%stake. UMG is a Dutch–American multinational music corporation under Dutch law. UMG's corporate headquarters are located in Hilversum, Netherlands and its operational headquarters are located in Santa Monica, California.[4][5] The biggest music company in the world,[6] it is one of the "Big Three" record labels, along with Sony Music and Warner Music Group. Tencent acquired ten percent of Universal Music Group in March 2020 for €3 billion[7][8][9] and acquired an additional ten percent stake in January 2021.[10] Pershing Square Holdings later acquired ten percent of UMG prior to its IPO on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange. The company went public on September 21, 2021, at a valuation of €46 billion
Orville Peck, the gay, mask wearing, South African born, Canadian based country singer, seems more like a poster child than brad imo
I switched over to dark country.
I was never all that much a fan of the "get along little doggy" western and yeehaw country styles anyway.

Disappointing. Brad has some really fun songs.
One of the great guitar players of our time. He was really good until he married into Hollywood. Too bad...
As a guitar player myself, I don't hear anything special from him. Bryan Setzer mopped the floor with him when they jammed. Just sayin'.......
Brian Setzer is/was amazing...highly underrated. I've also been OD'ing on Stevie Ray Vaughn this weekend, one of my all time favorite players.
SRV is one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Finally a real controversy! Lol, I grew up on Bryan Seltzer, I actually started duck tailing my hair with Dippidy Doo in the fifth grade because of Stray Cat Strut. He too (Seltzer) is a great guitar player, but I have to disagree, Brad Paisley is a SPECIAL guitar player. I hate his politics, but love his playing. I'm not really even a country guy, mainly grew up on EVH, Nuno and Yngwie, but still, Brad is really really good:
