Back in 2004, my wife and I were invited to GHW Bush's 80th birthday party event in Houston. The owner of a large satellite network provider was courting our company in a business venture, and his wife just happened to work for Babbs Bush and was planning the party. I am no one of any importance, in the public or private sector. Only to my God, my Family and Friends.
Not knowing what I now know, and rarely (never) get invited to such events, we went.
It was a spectacle, and had all kinds of dignitaries and celebrities in attendance. The main event held at the new Astro's stadium, was full of Christian prayers, gospel hymns sung by well known artists, and what I would almost call a Church-based celebration. It was a HUGE Fund Raising event.
Looking back, I sincerely believe they hid behind a facade of Christian themes, merely to gain money for their heinous agenda/s.
I purchased a polo shirt with the event title, "41 @ 80", embroidered on the breast. I still have it, and plan on burning it, along with my collection of Stephen King novels, when the truth is fully set free and all eyes have been opened.
Until then, I hold on to it as a reminder that not everything that looks and seems pure and good on the surface, is in fact God worthy, beneath the lie.
May I ask, why burn the SK novels? I’m not familiar with most of his work or his personal politics (though Salem’s Lot is one of my all time favorite spooky stories and I assume he’s a loony lefty). Just honestly curious if there was some statement he made or other revelation about him I’m unaware of.

Very outspoken liberal lunatic, that in hindsight, has focused a lot of his novels on harming children. Ah okay thanks. I can’t explain why exactly but it kinda bums me out? In the back of my mind I kinda always considered SK sort of a “great American author”. Probably just his focus on small town Maine, I dunno. And I’ve always enjoyed a good campfire story. Oh well. Another one bites the dust.
SK and Clancy were my go to fiction authors. I tried others, but I'd be 1 chapter in and figure out the ending.
When the Dark Tower series came out, I read book 1, waited for 2, reread 1 then read 2, waited for 3, reread 1 and 2 then read 3... all the way to the end of the series. So, you could say I was a bit of a fan.
The real-life movie that's playing out in front of us, really all around us, is providing plenty of suspense for me now.

It’s been ages but I always enjoyed Dean Koontz for a sort of SK “alternative”. I think I’ve read that he’s pretty based too, but I couldn’t honestly say. Been such a long time since I’ve read fiction.
