Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Yes, victim of fraud.
Many are victims of coercion, but they ultimately made the choice with their free will.
Most don’t have access to our sources. It’s obvious to us, not for normies.
Yeah it's a really hard thing. On one hand I think knowing what's going on is vital to life and can't forgive those who fail to try, and on the other hand, what if people ARE to the extent of their knowledge, trying? At least watching the news on TV vs not even caring?
There's a notable part in Atlas Shrugged where Hank Rearden slaps (!) Francisco D'Anconia. He takes it, and says something like "in the extent of your knowledge, you are right."
Edit: I forgot about that Filipino kid, but I now remember it. That was fucking heartbreaking.
Edit 2: I've been giving the whole "no-one was forced" thing some thought. One scenario would be let's say you're the father of a family, and the sole breadwinner. Let's also assume it's basically impossible in your field to just quit and still work in the field unvaxed (plausible, we can name several). What are you supposed to do if you can't quit and earn a similar amount of money in some other field? Lose your house? Starve your family? Face it, THIS is "forced to take the vax."
I'm fortunate, single/no kids, I can walk away from all my nice shit if I have to. But if I had to keep this roof over a family?
I actually moved my family to Russia before covid because where we lived they already had the childhood vax regime extremely tight, and we could see that every single state had plans to get there eventually. In a way I’m glad I didn’t know about Q yet because I might have hesitated but as it was we were still just getting settled when the borders closed!
Tough question of the day. Almost too philosophical for me.
Because yes, technically many of them are victims of circumstance and incredible pressure. I think often of a very good friend of mine who is a pilot who was essentially forced into it. He's a great guy, the kind who has never even come close to slighting me in many years of knowing him. Would never purposely do anything "bad". He's now pretty anxious about flying, and doesn't come right out and say anything, but is always picking my brain in a roundabout way for my thoughts on these subjects. I feel horrible for him and would consider him as close to a victim as it gets.
Tons of others, not so much.
But what I really think about is "what is a victim?"
I personally could consider myself a "victim" of the medical establishment. I've been through the ringer for over 20 years with them. I was young and "went with the flow" of doctors' advice and, for the most part, it was bad advice that's had consequences. Part of that is on me for being ignorant, naive and inexperienced. A larger part is on the medical establishment.
Point is, I don't look at myself as a victim. I do however, now know to do my research and put the majority of my faith in God and myself, and not men.
So what exactly is a victim?
While I concur, this is a bit heavy for GA/QotD, I'd say it's indeed philosophical. To the extent that people have accepted irrational philosophy/been intellectually disarmed, they are victims of the philosophy they've accepted (postmodernism now dominating the world) and those that brought it about (trend starting with and the biggest instigator being Kant)(he being the first big "modern" vs "post-", the result of later anti-philosophers running with his anti-ideas).
What about a vaxxed peron experiencing side effects yet still pushing/forcing others to take it.. The person who steps in quicksand and lures the rest of her jungle expedition party into the quagmire......
well, ignorance don't win things
