This should be interesting, all the intellectual property I work with (including government contracts) is protected using a VPN. Good luck assholes.

Government contracts will be exempt, of course.

It doesnt even make sense to ban VPNs, protecting personal information is a life line.

Mind you, VPNs just add an extra layer of security but unless you're using a sketchy one out of reach of a government, they can still be leveraged for information.

Scare tactic, unconstitutional, they don't have enough resources to enforce this even if they did pass it.

banning tiktok wasn't even good bait, as half the population likes it and the other half (while acknowledging security issues) is amazed at how many redpills circulate on there

Great point, I do see quite a bit of worthy videos have a tiktok watermark.

Even a lot of conservatives publish tick-tok videos...

That's probably the real reason they're now banning it, the redpilling potential.

Any representative who votes for this shit needs to be rounded up and put in prison for pissing on the Constitution.

The constitution is so drenched with politicians piss that it is just running directly off it and on to us.

So is this another hit on the economy? How many millions of people work remotely and connect via VPN, so now they might get caught up in this? Additionally, would this open the door to "investigating" various business b/c an employee was using a VPN to connect? This could get seriously messy, especially concerning the 4th amendment.

good luck enforcing that

Think CBDCs and alternative coins. You can’t access alt coins and the dollar is toast you’re forced to adopt CBDCs. The only thing that makes sense to me.

So VPNs do work after all? I figured the gov already had the VPN workarounds and they were pointless from the mass surveillance perspective

The VPN thing is only if your accessing banned stuff but still overreaching as fuck. Work related vpn won't be affected (yet).

"Banned stuff"

Who decides what stuff is banned?

Whichever corrupt asshole is in charge I suppose. They're probably banning TikTok now because of the redpilling it's causing. They obviously don't care about the data harvesting.

Right but that's my point. The people who ban stuff gets to decide what you can and can't look at on a VPN.

This thing goes way back... Constitution was the bait and Corporate America the switch.

Online anonymity is doable without vpn's as a hardware solution.

Computer built from parts purchased for cash or machine bought cash and you NEVER(ever for any reason) power it up while you have your mobile(or any other such device)anywhere near you(like a block/mile+ away from you).

(and if it is a laptop/tablet leave your phone in your car, go to the restroom and wrap it in several layers of foil before bringing it with you and your phone and don't unwrap it for any reason while you have your phone near(same as above criteria))

A WiFi directional range extender antenna allows you to connect to an open/public wifi outside of range of CCTV cameras (bearing in mind that you do pass quite a few cameras driving there and your car has a license-plate so repeat connections to the same wifi with the same activity each time would be foolish if cameras put you somewhere specific rather than in a general area).

Also don't install any software you already have downloaded on it, download and install ins-situ at your anonymous public wifi location only(and as always faraday-cage box or wrapped with foil whenever your phone is within a block/mile of the laptop/tablet)

Privacy is doable as a hardware/physical solution, it just require some extra steps, if you use tor as your browser then that adds another layer of security(again, on site download/install/use only)

It's just that VPN's are sooo convenient/s.....

The reality is that they are only secure to a point since you do pay for most of them and that leaves a trail, they don't get you all at once, it's a mosaic of different variables(connection point, hardware profile etc etc, they get you one step at a time and it eventually all adds up to YOU)

The only possible exceptions in addition to tor is the epic Privacy Browser which is free and comes with a set of free integrated VPN's sorted by geo-location, don't know for certain how trustworthy they are but they recently shut down their India VPN because VPN's were recently outlawed there...........
