Johnny Cash sang about a Boy named Sue. Somehow... that would be different today...
Just saw this meme on Instagram last night.
Cash boy named Sue
You also have Dolly Parton running around with Miley Cyrus and singing "Rainbowland." I always liked Dolly, but not anymore. Country music is no longer immune to this crap, and it's been watered down pop music for decades now anyway.
Country music was subverted some time back.
They weren't getting to the country folks so they had to take over. Most of their current crop of PC cowboys can kiss my ass.
What was considered real country music before the 80s is under Americana genre. This genre has new artists singing real life lyrics. They are from all over. My favorite artist in this genre are from Kentucky, Texas is my next favorite.
I never liked her. Everything woke turns to shit.
This is why I gave up on mainstream music long ago. Now I only listen the a homeless man who growls under a bridge while a big guy in overalls plays the jug
Dammit. CW allowing cross-over music was already pushing the limits as far as I am concerned. I miss the old CMT. I need some "Send Down an Angel" and that little Billy kid singing "One Voice was Heard"
CMT hasn't been country in over a decade. Their content is reality TV. I think they do these awards because they want a piece of the awards pie. It's probably all about ratings and money.
Brokeback mountain.
Not surprised. I'm sure this is the chick with the one eye covered etc albums
My response to this is Beethoven's Fifth. The percussion, that should shut all this nonsense down! Da da da da, da da da DA, da da da da da da da da da da da DA!! Cymbals clashing! Percussion!
Oh then there is the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky! https://duckduckgo.com/?q=1812+overture+tchaikovsky&va=b&t=hc&iax=videos&ia=videos&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DcEkTZ5zlGRw
We don't need country music drag pablum, not in the least. They cannot erase the fabulous music of the past, not while there are printed music sheets and recordings and people who choose to listen to it and to preserve it and to pass it on to future generations.
Those who want to preserve the best of country music, please do so.
The end of country, to be sure. I won't miss it, since I never listened to it. Bye.....
Oh, FFS.
