Thanks hun, I appreciate that. It's not easy being us. One day you're living your life together, the next you're watching your best friend turn into something totally foreign. But the love never dies.
My husband has it too. Vascular dementia. He's lost a lot of words, ability to read some things, has no short term memory either. It's awful. He used to be really handy around the house. Now he can do simple tasks but nothing more.
Same. Mine was a master mechanic with a Photographic memory...built vehicles from absolute bare dirt. Used to be the heart of every convo. He's the one that was redpilling everyone else 20 yrs ago. Now he can't turn a wrench at all. Can't drive unsupervised bc he gets lost in our driveway. Barely speaks at all, sleeps 18hrs a day, and has watched the same episode of Roadkill 15 times this week and doesn't know it.
I was hoping this article would present some preventative ideas, but NOPE!
Me too, but if it’s like most the other happenings it will have twist, turns, revelations and finally morph into something good. My hope is the “good” will be the cure for dementia.
This issue strikes as close to home as you can get, my mom.
Sorry man... my mother-in-law was stricken by dementia and fortunately the Good Lord took her early and we avoided the worst of it.

Thanks, she was truly a good woman. But like I said, the Lord mercifully took her early and the family was spared the last few years of that disease.
It just sucks. We have 3 living parents - 87, 85 and 83 - all in some stage of dementia. The 85 yo is pretty advanced - she has no idea what is going on but she is pleasant, happy and compliant. The other two are in the mean, confused and verbally combative stage. All of it is hard. We did not envision retiring early so we could deal with this. But, God said to honor your parents. He didn't say we had to like it or that it would be fun.

Actually it's funny you mention that and I wonder...similar/different subject. My husband's came about from several strokes...the strokes were brought about by a blood clot which is suspected to have come from a combo of the usual middle-aged-man behaviors, and medications which should not have been compounded. But the kicker and what seems to have set it in motion was west nile virus. Man made, no doubt. Everything in this world is trying to kill ya.

Often a B12 deficiency--and they never even ask the question. Faulty methylation is another cause. The more jabs people take, the more compromised they become.
