I’m 56. I’ve endured many conversations about the millennial new name for “Karen’s” which is supposed to represent my age group or younger generation who ‘behave,’ like a “Karen!”
The fundamental change, I see in the workplace, which no one seems to be talking about is mental illnesses !
I can see entitlement, it flows from my generation to millennials. I see it with elderly and anyone who has a moment of entitlement.
However, what I am seeing that seems to be more characteristic of their generation is mental illness. Autism, high functioning, autism, mental illness, low IQ sensitivity to emotion. It all seems to be characteristic of this generation.
Communication is not there strong point! Anyone else dealing with this in a daily basis?
I am seeing it in my workplace, I’m seeing it at restaurants with staff, at any type of service industry, it seems to be quite prevalent!
Yup! Lots of crybaby losers. All the college kids are on meds. Can't deal with anything challenging. Constantly crying and whining for special treatment. They need mental health days.... then there's the real weirdos who want to be called they/ them. I can't do it. It makes no sense. I'm probably gonna get fired for misgendering. What the hell is gender fluid? These people are insane. Please let this almost be over. I can barely stand to be around people now. Put the weirdos back in the closet.
Last summer, my kitchen was staffed by these kids. Constant complaining, walkouts because they actually had to work, sitting on their asses when things needed to be done, coming to work high, "I don't feel good" (read: I'm high and have a bad buzz), etc. I got tired of it, and slowly replaced them with... wait for it... high school students! I have zero... yes, ZERO of those issues now. It's polar opposite of what I had to deal with last year. These kids are eager to learn and work, and are a joy to have in my kitchen. I haven't yelled once this year kek
Now, some of these entitled, crabby elderly, drunken bar douchebags, and scamming customers (well, attempting to. I know ALL of the tricks and they no longer get away with it)... I'm still weeding as many of them out as I can. Can't get rid of all of the Karens and Kyles, though kek
(I always equated Karens and Kyles to those who are always looking for any reason to "speak to the manager" in order to get something cheap or free, and are never safisfied... i.e. entitled LIBERALS.
Thank heavens for the change over in staff!
My name is Kevin. Can we pick a different like say Darren or Loren!
I always called them "Richard". Seems more fitting.
Ah yes, I know him, Richard Cranium! 😄
Lol “sorry!” I didn’t create it! Hahahaha
When my son first told me about Karen and Kevin, I didn’t know how to respond.
It’s now used in news reels, referenced in TV shows / movies, and on all social media. It’s absolutely insane the most insulting part of it is “ageism.”
The millennials are clapping back because of all the millennial jokes!
Communist propaganda has demoralized people to the extent that they think it’s ok to have no dignity.
You are not alone. Young workers, lots of lbgtaxzefg's, they demand paid mental health days off, don't do shit when they are there and God forbid if you misgender one if them. They have cry closets for that. All of them are on some sort of coping medication, yet another excuse to go home, " I'm out of meds and feel unstable" It's pathetic. These people are still living with their parents, screaming at them for Hot Pockets. When mom and dad are gone and they've blown all the equity in the house, they are gonna be living with Julio down by the schoolyard.
Mental illness is a badge of honor among this group. An expectation. Just listen to them cry about "my bipollllllar" "my anxxxxxxiety." It is also a route for them to receive govt funded benefits and handouts.
I agree 💯
In my job, I test candidates for certification. A young candidate came in one day, testing began, and she turned to me to explain to me about "my annnnnnxxxxxxxiiiiiiieeeeeetttttyyyyy." I said, "Testing has begun, and you have about 34 minutes left, so let's continue."
Good! Damn only real life… will fully offer the education these people need!
Well. #1. If the candidate needed an accommodation, that should have been handled before testing, and there are accommodations available. So, I'm not able to make a special circumstance during testing. So, buckle up, buttercup. This is the real world.
You have no idea how helpless (yet unwilling to act) these people really are: https://www.reddit.com/r/internetparents/ or https://www.reddit.com/r/Adulting/ or https://www.reddit.com/r/JUSTNOFAMILY/ or https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/
ffs I clicked on a couple of those. Really sad. You know, but I really want to ask them, what do you eat? What medicine are you taking? Do you exercise and how much? etc. Basic stuff. It's sad.
Yeah. I agree. It's like you had a kid, but you didn't interact with him at all, and now the kid is all grown-up but does not know how to do anything.
