Date: last friday Location: Starbucks
I was working @ starbucks enjoying my own drink from home and my daughter (11) and her friends were hanging out at shops in the area, as kids do on a half day in our town.
They came in, one said "I have to pee", and asked my daughter to go with. Knowing that the restrooms lock and you need the code to get in, I said "that's fine". For some unknown reason, I got up and wandered around the store, and back to my bag to pack up.
In a flash my daughter is at my side. "Mama, a man just came into the ladies bathroom".
I stood in shock as two girls who barely knew me and my daughter who clearly did NOT want mama bear to embarrass her watched me silently. Out of the women's bathroom comes a light in his loafers entitled f**k. Mid 20s, I can do what I want.....I was convinced my daughter could have taken him out.
I started to take two steps towards him, everything in my head was silent, and I heard, "Mama, DON'T". Not that I was going to embarrass her. I was ready to go full mama bear on this entitled fuck who thinks that it's HIS right to be in a women's bathroom.
Nope. Not on my watch.
I stop, compose, and turn towards the counter. Enter the starbucks employee who will comply to every "my body my choice" to keep her job.
Conversation goes as follows:
me: excuse me, I have a question?
barista known as Peyton (f): yes?
me: I was wondering what your restroom protocol is?
peyton: well, the bathrooms lock
me:: well those locks don't work well when a man just came into the women's bathroom.
(she looks at me like I'm lying and my daughter speaks up and backs up what happened)
here is where it gets good:
Peyton: well, he's......he's...... (clearly not wanting to point out that he's gay) me: he's what. Please tell me the excuse Peyton: he's...um.... me, getting louder: what? a MAN in a WOMENs restroom when there are CHILDREN in there?
Peyton dismisses me and turns away, saying I'm sorry you were uncomfortable with this.
I then pushed the issue, asking why the doors are locked, and then asking if she was a mother. Shocking fact: she's not.
After a few phone calls, come to find out that Peyton knows said gay in question, he is a former employee.
My chat with Starbucks corporate was a laugh, and I'll try to post the pics from the chat - after I asked the restroom protocol given to locations, the agent left the chat.
I am disgusted. Disgusted for the world my daughter is growing up in, disgusted that these vile things are being considered as "ok".
Please, patriots. Please help me get the word out about this. My daughter and her friends were shaken up by this. Their moms were in shock as well when I sat down with them later in the evening (meeting both of them the first time, too, lol) when the girls were having a sleepover.
Follow up:
A district manager spoke with my husband and was appalled. Apologized. Told him they would take actions.
Fuck that. I feel like I need to use my mouth on this.
Don't go to Starbucks ---- problem solved.
She wasn’t looking for a solution. She was asking for help in getting information out. She was saying be careful the next kid might not have a “mama bear” the slippery slope has been proven. The question is what are we going to do about it.
My first thought is for parent to stand in front of the door. Until the young girls our finished. We have ridiculous society that looks at Muslim women are treated while at the same time using our girls and women to the wolves.
Don’t go to Starbucks. What a douche thing to say. If you like being a douche I think Reddit will be more your speed. It’s happening everywhere. Not just starbucks.
When you have never heard a gunshot accept on tv when a real gun is fired near your home it is scary. For most of us the trannies are always on tv. When it’s your turn to open your eyes and see what is going it’s terrifying. No douche I am not talking about being afraid of transtesticles, the fear isn’t of them it’s fear of yourself. When someone threatens your child it’s over for most people. There is a level of adrenaline rage you cannot know without feeling it. Why is it different? There is no discussion there is no negotiation. In 1.5 seconds there is an intense fire you have never felt before.combat vets know it. We dream about it every night.
When we are out in public in this new ideaology we have to be smart. You see a man trying to follow children we need to block the door and make them wait. You see a good man or woman taking a stand we have to step up with them. Nobody has to get hurt. They will just have to wait.
Thank you.
The first few comments I got were about "well don't go there"
They didn't see the look in my kid's eyes.
True, but NGL, it sure would feel good to stomp a mud hole in one of these degenerates every now and then.
Watch less tv. Don't give in to all of your fears.
A grown ass man was in a women's restroom where two girls were in there first. Did not leave after seeing them. What if this man decided he liked YOUR little girl? Would that be OK with you?
Do you know what Starbucks does with your money when you buy their $7 diabetes in a cup? They help fund organizations who promote the same behaviors with which you are appalled. The "don't go to Starbucks" people are right. There's a good chance you've known for years that Starbucks is wicked. You shouldn't have been in there to begin with. Out of care for the victims of the incident, you shouldn't go back.
Glad I live in a state where they arrest men who go in the women's bathroom.
No that's not okay. I didn't mean to make it sound like that was okay. Im not saying you did anything "wrong".
My comment was about the things you said about t.v. and the crazy making of keeping up with all the madness. I hope you don't get captured by fear and loathing, is all. It's a wonderful world and I hate to hear people being drafted into culture war craps.
Your dismissal is proof u have no idea how the world works. You know nothing go back to Reddit.
Yeah, I feel I that financially supporting Starbucks at this point is the problem. Every dollar is a vote. As a private business they have every right to do whatever clown ass stupid shit they want - it’s of course more complicated then that so to our government diving into socialism face first and using our money to finance most of this crap but it wouldn’t be possible if we all stopped.
again....was not financially supporting them.
So you weren't even a paying customer but feel you have the right to control the bathroom policy for a private business? Did you change the menu to your liking as well? Vote with your wallet. And I guess your feet, if you still don't get how to keep safe from this business.
Yep. Buy a espresso and coffee maker combo. Screw starcucks
Only this isn't about coffee - she was drinking her own drink from home anyway and just using their wifi while the girls shopped. This isn't about boycotting Starbucks either. FFS it's about THE MAN THAT FOLLOWED TWO CHILDREN INTO A LOCKED PUBLIC BATHROOM and scared the shit out of them.
I read story. I would never use a starbucks bathroom or step into one even for free stuff. The free wifi is a good way to hack you phone.
I was on long drive trip once not long ago, and had to piss like a race horse. I confess, I pulled off the freeway and ran into the closest place I knew would have a restroom which happened to be a starbucks. Single use restroom with a latch lock. I doubt however anyone would follow this old man overweight boomer into a restroom. LOL
Or, just drink burnt motor oil straight from your crankcase.
Better flavor, and cheaper for a quart of it than for a cup of what passes for "coffee" at Starbucks.
That was my first thought… why the fuck were they there in tue first place? We KNOW about them and have for years now.
being that I knew the bathroom locked, I did NOT expect an employee to give a male the female restroom code.
THIS - Does the door have a vacant or in use indicator on the lock?
I want to go back and look.
This was a central location in which i could work and look outside to keep a pulse on my daughter's location.
That's like saying, 'don't like that pornographic t.v. show, don't watch it.' That's only a temporary solution. It doesn't go to the heart of the underlying problem. And yes, that is a problem in larger society. To simply ignore things like this is cowardly.
No ---- this is THE solution ---- just don't do it.
I agree that if enough people stopped going, the problem would be solved because they would soon be out of business. But if we all turn a blind eye to the ills of society, nothing changes because the ills don't go away. We just avoid them, but they are still there, rotting away at the society we live in.
