My wife and I saw "Sound of Freedom" yesterday at a mid-day showing. Theaters at that time of day (in our experience) draw maybe 10 to 20 people... but there might have been 60 in the theater yesterday, most interesting. Older people but a smattering of young folks. After the movie, there was very little chatter as we exited the theater...mostly a somber silence.
Excellent movie, by the way, beautiful music and filmed in a gritty realistic way. I served in the military in Panama and (ahem!) "other places" where I was not supposed to be, officially, and the scenes set in Honduras and Cartagena, Colombia were VERY realistic.
Kudos to everyone involved in making "SOF" and getting it released.
Movie magic and filming on location combined as tools for getting the right scenes to support the narrative at hand have come a long way of course, and are a really fascinating history to read about in themselves. The skills this profession employs are incredible.
It's much more than that. Independent movies, in general, has been a pretty healthy market, ever since VHS tapes revived them, way back. This is a movie that was done years ago, and actively blacklisted. Big props to Angel Studios, for going out of their streaming/OtT comfort zone, and for making their company only accountable to direct investors. Had they not decided to make themselves as they did, after the VidAngel drama, this movie would probably still be in limbo, blocked by crafty legalese.
Pedophiles are tripping over each other to out themselves when they attack this movie. People I trusted are suddenly attacking it. This is my hill to die on. If you attack this movie in any way I'm done with you.
Another bit of hopium I am sharing....when Bill Engvall was on dancing with the stars, he just kept "winning" based on viewer votes. I say that is a gauge as to how many folks out there do not align with the image being thrust upon us.
And the movie has done these numbers without any of the traditional forms of advertising and despite full court press denunciation by MSM when it is mentioned. This is almost exclusively word of mouth and says more to me about where the American peoples head is at than almost anything else.
Crimes against children unite humanity. This is the phase we are in right now and signals the end is near.
The tide has turned!! The consciousness of the people have spoken. We as a people are now ready in mass to hear and see this information. The over turning of RvW has broken the dam and now this incredible, impactful movie that millions will see. The tide has turned. We are full speed ahead! Stay in prayer folks, hold the vigil for God's children. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. ❤️
We could see from the beginning that this was going to be Indiana Jones' equivalent to The Force Awakens, after the franchise had also already run dry.
If it had Ballerina to compete with, it might not demolish the competition (but I could imagine a lot of people watching both, the same day, if something like that happened). But a sequel, Disneyfied, of a franchise that long since went stale? Of course this would happen.
I really want to see the end of week numbers! I haven't seen it yet, but word of mouth is happening, and it's all positive.
The first movie was pretty good (really good cinematography), but after that the franchise went to shit. I'm surprised this latest version sold anything at all - seems like Harrison Ford is past his expiration date.
That’s not, strictly speaking, accurate – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny had already been out for five days, the first three of which out-earned Sound of Freedom’s opening-day take, when the new independent thriller came to theaters on Tuesday. But for a fleeting moment this past Fourth of July, while the intended audience of Indy’s latest outing was presumably spending time with their families and friends at barbecues or in other social situations, an unoccupied fandom rallied by the star Jim Caviezel claimed the day with a $14.2m gross versus Dial of Destiny’s $11.7m. No matter that these figures require selective, almost willfully misleading framing to allow for the David-and-Goliath narrative trumpeted by supporters;
If this is true, then it's really pathetic & damaging on our side.
Can anyone confirm?
We just got back from viewing this movie and it was nearly 100% full!! Go see it!! if you have kids... especially little ones... you'll be hugging them extra tight. our theater made sure that our venue was extra warm and the next-door movie was extra loud... sons of beeches!!!

Since you mention it: Interesting acronym — SOF.
Yeah, it wasn't accidental. If you know, you know. Drug interdiction and intel gathering. Too old for that shit now.

Thank You for your service, Fren!
This is great news for independent films.

I don't want to see this film. But I would gladly buy tickets for it to boost its numbers.
Just curious why not?
Its hard to watch this type of subject matter in a movie format. Very drawn out and painful. I have to take sad things in smaller doses.
its not going to be screened in my area :(
Indiana what?

As are the rest of them....

I'll try to search a bit....

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Gross on Fri Jun 30 = $23,682,998
Sound of Freedom Tues. 7/4 = $14,242,063
Wed. 7/5 = $4,047,558
It's really lame that some on our side tried to make it sound like SOF was way out-earning another major film...... 🤬🤬🤬🤦♂️🤦♂️
