Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Anyone have any suggestions on B-17? I've been collecting apricot seeds, do I grind them up? Anyone know an extraction method for Laetrile? I'm not particularly fond of apricots so any suggestions on jams, cobblers etc. would be most welcome too.
Been a long while but I looked into and bought a bag of apricot seeds (kernels) fr amazon. At the time, I didn’t know what was used (for laetrile) was the inside kernel of the apricot seed…not the outer shell. If I remember right, you can throw a couple in the blender with your smoothie. And that you are only sposed to eat a couple a day.
But that was a long time ago and maybe things have changed…like dosages for maintenance or specific problems. Maybe one of our GAW naturopaths can chime in.
Just cracked one open, sure enough there's a seed as soft and shaped like a pumpkin seed. Just ate one, bitter little thing. I'll try a couple a day and see how I feel. The whole cyanide thing is a joke, I've accidentally ate enough apple seeds over the years to know the levels are so low there's nothing to worry about. I'm sure you may have a problem if you ate a thousand at a time but it would take a special kinda stupid for that.
Many fruit seeds contain cyanide. This is why there is opposition to laetrile. So, do some research and see what a couple of seeds contains. All medicine is poison. It's the dose......
In my research years ago, the “don’t take apricot seeds cuz cyanide…” was debunked. Can’t remember exactly why or how now. Something about chemical structure and how the body processes.
Agree with “It’s the dose.” Always is. I’d check with the Bolangers (The Truth About Cancer) re: apricot pits.
Again, need a naturopath to comment.
oh yes! Tonkatsu! I have been making homemade pickles, Roofie. Have you ever tried making homemade pickles?
Use a mason jar for pickles. If you get the small cukes, you can really jam them in there. Add salt, water, garlic and fresh dill. A few days:Pickles!!
Are you talking about a ceramic vessel that started getting mold inside it?
I do it in Mason jars. And groceries are wildly expensive, you are right!
