If YOU can afford it (not sticking taxpayers with the bill, imho) adding solar is a good idea. There are other smaller conical wind generators developed by Japan that can be stuck almost anywhere. They look like spinning Christmas trees. Connected to storage cells, you can make your home self sufficient
