Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
We have some anons here who actually LIVE in Japan who could chime in.
That comment was largely word vomit. South Korea is also facing a "fertility crisis" and yet has all those "utopia" qualities in spite of "toxic work culture"
Which yes, exists, but people aren't jumping off buildings every day post bubble style. The appeal to the west of Japan and Korea is I feel due to the fact culturally America (and the American west in general) kind of sucks.
Any sense of nationalism has been demonized by media and deep state. Civil rights issues distracted and separated us for two hundred years that we could have been nurturing and growing as a society. Protestantism also absolutely crippled us artistically, emotionally, and philisophically. This has all been manipulated by the cabal due to the fact America is relatively young as a nation.
Japan somehow retains a culture and identity in spite of being a failed state and having been the biggest loser of that war. Think of it more, our "cultural institutions" are all cabal traps: fast food, sportsball, Hollywood, books, music, social media. No coincidence, those same designs corrupt and erode other nations even the eastern ones
I was in Japan recently and their food is just Wow! Like it's crazy how good they taste, even the veggies, and I hate veggies.
Yes, the vegetables in Japan are fantastic. WAY better than in America. Organic farmers' markets in America are alright. But let's say you want to buy a watermelon. Sure, they are cheaper in the USA, and you can try thumping them to see what they sound like. You think you've got a good one, so you bring it home, cut it open, and it just sucks. Meanwhile in Japan, they will tell you with a sticker how sweet the watermelon is on a grade scale. I tell kids in Japan who hate tomatoes that the ones here are like candy compared to the crappy tomatoes in America. And I don't buy American meat here. Especially now that they've begun vaccinating the farm animals. I guess the cows need to experience myocarditis too.
"Refined" is an appropriate word to describe Japanese food for sure. I realize that most Americans don't know the difference between Japanese and Chinese food, but they are very different. Then again, at a Chinese restaurant in America, fried rice is just something to do with leftover rice. Here, the fried rice is fantastic and will blow you away. It's Japanese-style Chinese food primarily. OTOH, I miss stuff like egg foo young and moo goo gai pan.
Send in these anons that live in Japan into here then. I want everyone's opinion.
Right off the top of my head, Steve. He has lived in Japan quite a long time. Hopefully he sees this, I can't tag users on this browser.
