Also you can uninstall updates. Go to the windows updates screen and there should be an uninstall updates link, but it could be on the updates history screen too.
OK ... So, here is one simple solution to your ailments.
Dump microsoft.
but before you do: obtain a USB drive of say 8 Gigs. Go over to Linux Mint LMDE and download the ISO into your download folder.
Go over tot Rufus.io and download the package and install it on your windowsbox. You will need this to create a bootable USB.
Plug in the USB. Fireup Rufus, select the ISO in your download folder, and hit ok. Then create the live USB.
Once done, power off your machine. After that, power it on, but .... hit F12 or F2 into bios and change boot sequence to your USB drive.
Allow to run, and voila, now you have a working live CD. And you can choose to install it, after you have saved your data.
Extra points: full disk encryption.
Of course, you can even liven things up with KDE Desktop. It is really very beautiful. . However, it is also resource intensive. So if you want something lean and mean, go for fluxbox. There is a ton of niceties you can use, like conky's. (I can recommend (automatik)
IF, and only if you really must (I was confronted with those windoooooooozzzzz demands from employers, but I simply said: sorry, no can do, as it does not conform to my security settings and threat-model-alleviation-process. However, I would be happy to help you straighten it out. Here's my proposal .... ), you could run windows & its programs in a virtlib instance without internet access. I would not recommend it. But yeah ... situations always are different.
At any rate, you would then have a clean slate for engaging here and everywhere else. And you can leave windows to the moment you absolutely need it.
There are those who would recommend to do a duo install. But no, don't need to. You want windows in a cage.
Now here are a few recommendations:
Browser: use Librewolf.
Office: Libreoffice is fine. If you need something with projoects: librepojects is there for you.
If you want to losen up your creative side: go for GIMP and inskape/ scribus.
Get yourself at least a VPN like Mullvad.
If you want to go a bit more exploring: go Lokinet and/ Tor/ i2P.
So far, I have installed Linux on quite a number of laptops and computers, and I have not found any problem due to missing drivers, etc. Though, if there is a problem, set yourself for a steep learning curve.
I had a similar problem. None of the mod functions worked for me. Here's what you need to do. Get on your Brave browser and goto greatawakening.win. Once you're on GAW, look at the top of the screen where you entered the URL and go to the right. You'll see a few small icons. One of them looks like a lion/shield. If you put your cursor on top of it, it will say, "Brave Shields." Click on it, then turn the shields off for GAW. Things should work for you now.
I think Brave has a new update, which installed automatically on your computer. For whatever reason, it doesn't seem to work on GAW.
What a Friggin nightmare . Keep me posted please . I just hired an IT guy to go buy me and install etc a new deck top! I’m really busy and know squat about computers so I paid him to chose and install everything . While he was telling me about Microsoft word office etc I got a sickly anger ,, can’t stand anything to do with him or his company .
At the start of the great coof war, when they started rolling out Track and trace apps, I switched off automatic uploads on my Iphone. The IOS was then 13.4.1
I had a feeling Apple would do something nefarious so I never updated, and later heard they implemented a T and T bundled into one of the IOS14. updates.
To this day I'm still running IOS 13.4.1 and automatic updates turned off.
However it keeps downloading the latest update and I just scrubbed IOS 16 something from the phone.
I did restore, rebooted & yelled at it, but it's still doing the same thing. My IP is Xfinity, I wonder if they're doing something, oh & the firestick quit working too. Sorry I can't reply to you frens.
Bill Fucking Gates 😡
You give him too much credit.
I'm assuming you don't have a back-up to restore to the un-updated version.
Everyone using Microsoft computers can restore to a previous date unless it has somehow been modified to stop backup points. Go to --
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/recovery-options-in-windows-31ce2444-7de3-818c-d626-e3b5a3024da5#bkmk_remove_installed_windows_update
Look for-- restore from system restore point

My next laptop hopefully will be Linux - they do not have these problems.
Likely no reason your current laptop can't run Linux.
Been running Linux on my machine and my wife's for a couple of years, now. I want nothing more to do with either Micro$oft or Apple.

Freedom, baby!
Your spyware needed updating.
Are you using Brave for your browser?
yes, is there a problem with Brave?

Never trust them!
It's working now, I think it was the yelling at it that worked. lol

I hate Microsoft.
If you're running windows, you already gave them that permission via the EULA that you agreed to.
...check your modem/router reboot if your haven't done so recently....
