I now finally understand why my Energy Star dishwasher takes 3 hours to wash
And breaks down in two years.
I have a refrigerator that was in my parents basement in the 70s while growing up. It was already 15 years old then. Still works perfectly. Never had it serviced. And it doesnt snitch on me to the Feds like the 'smart' appliances today.
I had a fridge break down and called Mr. Buttcrack to fix it. The problem was a relay. He said these commonly fail, they're too small. He put in a relay used in elevators and the fridge has been working for 20 years now.
Same here. Grabbed my parents freezer and moved across 2 states. One close by another 2000+ miles away and still work. It's over 18 years old. LOL
Wow! What brand was that! Fantastic you got 3 years out of it! Mine go about a year.
I have a spare fridge that I bought back in 1992.
All I do is clean the coils regularly and it just keeps on running.
Only reason it is not the main fridge these days is that I bought that first one when I was single, needed a bigger one once I had a family.
But that old Frigidaire just keeps on running and refuses to die.
yep, they are building nothing but crap now. and then they wonder why our garbage dumps are so full.
I'd like to say that I understand why they don't make that an option while still allowing you to clean the original way... And I mean it...I understand why that option doesn't exist!
The reason is authoritarianism and shaming... They want your lefty neighbor to be able to shame you when you say that you run it twice for each load, giving said lefty neighbor a euphoric dopamine burst when they shame you and making them feel ethically superior, all while they eat off of still-dirty dishes and think they are better than you for it..........
...or rinse them before putting them in the dishwasher. Rinse them so well, they're clean enough to put them in the cabinet. Then put them in the dishwasher and let it run for 157 minutes.
Since my old, hand-me-down Maytag dishwasher finally took a crap, due to idiot movers, I've never had a good dishwasher since. I've purchased two brand new ones since then, and both are crap. I've learned that if I put a mesh bag of lemon peels, about four or five, in with my dishes, my dishes come out sparkling clean. You have to change the lemons every couple of days otherwise they go bad.
Like lemon peels in the dishwasher while you run it?
Yep. I do it everyday and it works great. My dishes come out sparkling with no spots. And this post has nothing to do with Q, but it's not being deleted LOL
Hippies is the real answer.
LOL
