This wasn't an active shooter as in mass murderer. This was an altercation in the food court.

If I were placing bets I'd take the odds this is one of the usual suspects after all this is fucking Dallas. That kind of shit is a nightly occurrence.

IN Texas?

Shouldn't be long before we get a "good guy with a gun" story

One suspect apparently in custody https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/one-suspect-in-custody-after-shooting-at-state-fair-of-texas-spurs-evacuation/3360667/

3 injured. Usual suspect, no doubt in my mind.

They managed to check the suspect’s genitalia and preferred pronouns, but could not determine or report on other attributes by press-time. Nice.

Love the plug how permitless carry is the reason someone got shot. Never behavioral problems in the lower classes. Never about the psychosis induced by rampant drug use and over-prescription of SSRIs. Nope. It’s a piece of legislation to blame!

It's probably the people at the shooting gallery trying to win the stupid toy.

Another false flag by Antifa to make people think gun control laws should be increased.

There's a lot of ethnic youths that frequent the fair now. All sorts of reasons someone would pop a cap... Would not be surprised with gang activity too.

Texas saw a solar eclipse today. Symbolism will be their downfall.

I forgot completely about the eclipse and was wondering why the hell people kept putting the glasses on and looking up. We finally asked someone and I remembered. Dallas wasn't a full eclipse but further south like San Antonio I believe was in the direct path. I decided to go to the fair at the last minute and forgot all about the eclipse - and I even had glasses left over from the full one back in the 20teens. I saw that one from the top of our fuel building at the nuclear plant I worked at. Even saw the "diamond" at the top of the ring. The plant brought in ice cream for us while we waited - good people.

There wasn't a total eclipse anywhere today, it was partial and basically just as good here in Dallas as it was down in San Antonio. April 8th of next year is the big one that is 100% worth traveling south just a little ways to get in totality.

Nope. You can carry at the Texas State Fair if you have the LTC. I know because i did today. I skipped the metal detector and a cop checked my ID and said i could go anywhere except a school function like FFA or if a football game was being played. He also of course said I couldn't get drunk, and had to keep it concealed.

I looked it up on their FAQ. Rules are online.

My wife and I left at like 2pm though. Too packed in there. Also glad I didn't have to make a tough decision if I was there during the shooting, because I would always default to stopping the threat and helping people.

Edited for some context: By the way - In Texas we do have Constitutional Carry, but not at the State Fair. It is privately owned and you have to go by their rules. I like having the LTC for multiple reasons - even though I legally shouldn't need it. This was one of those reasons. Another is if I ever get pulled over for a traffic violation (4 times in over 10 years) I give the cop my ID and my LTC and we end up talking about guns. Giving that cop my LTC puts him/her at ease because he knows I've been background checked, and have less likelihood of committing any crime than the actual cops do (real stat). I also don't know if you can carry at any of the county fairs (never checked) but the actual State Fair is allowed.

I mentioned the rules - here is the weapons section:

CAN I BRING ANY WEAPONS INTO THE FAIR? Please help us keep the Fair safe and fun for all! We reserve the right to search all fairgoers and their bags upon entry into the fairgrounds. No weapons of any kind are permitted on the fairgrounds. This includes firearms, knives, clubs, tasers, chemical dispensing device etc. Also, all sharp metal objects, such as pocketknives, scissors, and other sharp implements, are strictly prohibited. Please leave these items at home or in your vehicle. If you usually carry a pocketknife and forget it’s in your pocket when you reach the security checkpoint, you will be asked to return it to your vehicle to secure your knife or be given the option to dispose of it prior to entering the park. If you question whether something is safe to bring in, it probably isn’t – and should be left at home or inside your vehicle.

License to Carry a Handgun The State Fair of Texas is—and always has been—a private entity. The Fair leases the Fair Park property from the City of Dallas but is not part of the City or controlled by a government body.

The State Fair of Texas has long been, and continues to be, a strong supporter of the rights of responsible gun owning Texans. For that reason, the Fair has long allowed Fair attendees with valid handgun licenses to carry their handguns in a concealed manner while attending the Fair (except for locations prohibited by law). The State Fair will not allow unlicensed gun owners to enter the fairgrounds with a firearm.

A person holding a valid Texas License to Carry a Handgun (LTC), or a valid handgun license from a reciprocating state, is permitted to enter the Fair with his or her concealed handgun, provided that he or she thereafter fully complies with all applicable laws. LTC holders are responsible for knowing and complying with all applicable Texas laws. For example, under Texas Penal Code Chapter 46 an LTC holder is prohibited from carrying a handgun (1) on any other premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place (this may include Cotton Bowl Stadium, as well as the State Fair’s livestock facilities where interscholastic events are presented), (2) on the premises of a business that derives 51 percent or more of its income from the sale or service of alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption, or (3) while intoxicated.

The State Fair of Texas prohibits Fair attendees (including LTC holders) from openly carrying handguns while at the Fair. If an individual attempts to enter the Fair with an openly carried handgun, the guest will be asked to conceal the handgun (if the guest has a valid LTC), otherwise the guest will be asked to secure the handgun in his or her vehicle or at some offsite location.

We know that this is an important issue for many Texans, and that the Fair’s decision may disappoint potential fairgoers who regularly and responsibly practice open carry. However, the Fair strongly believes that allowing concealed carry and prohibiting open carry is a reasonable compromise that best ensures the safety and comfort of all Fair attendees.

NOTE: The State Fair of Texas does not provide lockers for the storage or checking of weapons, so please plan your visit to the Fair accordingly. For example, if you plan to attend a game or event in the Cotton Bowl Stadium, please secure your weapon at home or in your vehicle prior to entering the fairgrounds.

I stand corrected. I was at okc one the other weekend and it had a sign for sure, they literally added a law to cover not allowing carry there. I owe the texas fair a visit if they are nice enough to allow carry.

Just remember to bring your LTC.

I didn't know they allowed it either until I decided to go and tried to find the rules online. I was very pleasantly surprised.
