It may be as simple as the possibility that he hasn't (yet) stepped on anyone's toes. That is often the way of politics. Even if you are not in league with someone, if they have always been courteous and fair in your experience with them, they could be very tolerable for a position like the Speaker of the House.
Wow. Gives me the same sort of amazed wonder I felt when Reagan and Trump were elected. Feels a bit like God's finger is stirring the pot.
