They own everything at this point. The entire average day is geared to whittle you down and build them up. Taxes is the most effective way. When that shitty road busts up your alignment in a month well a transaction is made. They get the taxes. When your windshield gets a Crack and it has to be fixed a tax is taken from that transaction. It's not in thier best interest for things to run honestly.
yep, just ask Big Pharma.
"Government" is a big laundromat...

Bastiat's Broken Window. Modern Edition.
Here is another way they whittle at us, in Baltimore County (a suburb in Maryland) the county council passed a law that stores can not use plastic bags-messes with the recycle machines-I believe, so now we have to pay the stores 5 cents for every bag we use (or bring our own). The stores are able to keep the 5 cents, so they make money on every bag, as the price of the bags are already in the cost of the merchandise they sell. The catch is can you bring your own bags to McDonalds, Chinese carry-out, the pharmacy, etc? Yes they all have to charge per bag, the five cents. Ridiculous and stupid-paying for a bag twice or more. Or just paying for something that was free a few years ago. I hate these politicians, all of them.
We pay 10 cents per bag in California.
not surprised in the least.
Me too ,, I was thinking “ what kind of bags are a nickel “ such a disgrace !
I forgot about that, I was out there a few years ago, in Coronado, CA and forgot I paid ten cents way back then. I feel sorry for you all out there, but Maryland is California East.
Look around... same racket is run everywhere on everything...
It's the only way to justify "rock washing" jobs and other things that aren't real occupations.
It’s the old tires being slashed near the sketchy tire shop trick!
Rinse and repeat; all of government still operates this way.
Hegelian dialectic.
