red flags going up here... this guy claims to be homeless, yet has a car.... able to buy gas and probably insurance for that car...has a smart phone and records videos and uploads them while having no home... where does he sent the payment from ... where does he get his bills to for the cell cervice..... does he work??? he doesn't appear as unkept as many homeless.... not saying what he's saying didn't happen and shouldn't be questioned.... just seems like all the pieces don't quite fit together...
In the Bay Area (areas surrounding San Francisco), poverty for a family of four is $120k. The majority of homeless in the Bay Area are employed people who simply do not make enough money to cover the high rents up there, so they live in their cars. What is sad is that there is a GIANT population of teachers who live in their cars.
To get mail, they use a PO Box. To shower, they buy a gym membership. The gym is also a safe space to hang out, too. The gyms often have wifi, so they'll do things like upload podcasts from the gym or from their place of employment.
edit to share a story: I lived up there very briefly, near a park. The city locked the bathrooms at 7:00 pm. There was a man who would sneak in at 6:59 and hide somewhere inside so that he was inside when it was locked, giving him a safe, dry place to sleep at night without fear of being attacked. No one complained because he kept the bathroom clean. When the bathrooms were unlocked in the morning, he was ready to go to work and drove to his job
Fentanyl is a big problem for the people who are truly destitute -- literally sleeping on the streets. But, like I said, the vast majority of homeless in that area are employed, have cars and live in their cars.

The government gives the cell phone, pays the bill. I doubt he has insurance on the car, most low income people don’t.
