Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Thanks fren for this link. Definitely explains what is happening to me as well. I am not zero carbs but definitely have cut down on carbs for a while now, and looks like this is a side effect in the intial adjustment phase. Hmm.
Added: And. for me drinking electrolytes (when I was really dizzy), eating some salty chips and adding a punch of pink salt to water has helped.
I recently bought some Himalayan pink salt that comes in a grinder. My wife and daughter enjoy the grinding. I read on this forum that white salt is not good, but I have no idea why not. Nevertheless, I did buy the pink salt and it's fun to grind, at the very least.
As a Eurofag I buy Zechstien Sea Salt with iodine, lovely!
Best salt, hands down.

I read a while ago (so I've forgotten) why exactly it's bad, but it had to do with a lot of junk being added back in. Same with pepper. If I didn't know better, I'd almost think someone was out to get us ....
The Morton's salt is complete purified which sounds good but what's taken out are the good minerals. the pink and other colored salts are colored by the minerals we need plus they taste better.
yikes. failing orthostatics is not good- i'd take a sitting then standing blood pressure and make sure there's not something more serious going on. if a drop in BP is just a 'normal thing for keto' then F that!
bless you guys, please take care.
we have a big group of keto fanatics here so I do not bother arguing it
I will say this. Weight is an indicator of potential health issues and a possible cause of health issues but not as important a metric as most modern societies make it out to be.
And two, the longest living groups of people (who also have average lower bmis) eat carbs as cultural and ethnic staples
Exactly! Low carb is a short term solution.
can't argue with a good diet and exercise.
I just wish they'd see that flirting with a loss of consciousness is an enormous, huge, fat red flag. aargh.
