Wouldn’t it be more strange if they weren’t looking to leverage space for defence? I just assumed that Russia, China, Iran, India, etc all have space programs to varying degrees.
OK, you're not from the US, but surely you can't possibly be so naive as to actually believe Iran would use space technology only for defense, and not to attack or intimidate other nations, or in their words, "wipe them off the map."
Do you believe the same thing about their having nuclear weapons? Just curious
There is no defense without an offensive force. I think anon was simply implying that in the "public" eye, it is for defense - to justify having it (space tech) what with "rules" and "laws" and sanctions and that whole web of BS. Perhaps I'm also an r-tard that needs to sit in time out today and gather my thoughts.
That made me laugh, thanks
I meant defense as a general term for military. Every nation with a space force will use it to attack and intimidate other nations. I do not support Iran or many other nations in this pursuit, but it’s entirely naive to think that they’re not going to try.
I think it's more about capabilities that is baffling, considering our intervention and prevention of the Middle East as a whole having any real power beyond maintaining an unlimited series of wars.
Russia was amongst the first, so naturally they would have space programs.
