Fire Shuts Down GM’s Electric Car Plant, Executives Blame ‘Battery Materials’

I worked for a startup company that was researching making hydrogen for fuel for cars. We had another startup company that made electric cars (metal hydride battery) come and bring one of their cars to a possible investors meeting. We had them come for a demo tour. The night before the meeting and tour - the car went on fire. The smell was horrible and we had to clean the whole place out. It turned out that any break in the circuits of the battery can cause a fire. Was a real lesson for me. I would never drive an electric car after that. Hydrogen fuel is okay.
Hydrogen fuel cell with capacitors (for high load events) would work pretty well. There are a few major advantages over battery EVs
It's funny because as this whole EV push is failing, Toyota (who is all about hybrids and hydrogen fuel because they make better sense) is laughing at the other car companies who are taking big loses on BEVs. Unless battery technology makes huge improvements (or all the worlds governments go crazy on regulations), BEVs are gonna crap out hard and fast.
The Bane of many Fire Departments and Wrecking Companies the past couple years.
A Local Company now refuses to haul burned out Electric Cars on their tow trucks due to their propensity for catching fire again after being extinguished.
You mean… They said fire to their own EV manufacturing plant, because they know it’s going under. Now they can claim insurance.
I hope the normies -- or a growing percentage of them -- are figuring out that -
The MARKET should make choices about what gets bought and sold, not politicians and government bureaucrats. SOME electric vehicles are fine, but FORCING them on everyone as they're working towards is insane. "Everything government touches turns to shit."
The push for electric vehicles has to do with controlling and REDUCING the population (can't use cash at public chargers -- only "controllable" credit and digital money; the electric grid can barely handle things NOW and will NOT be able to handle a huge increase in EVs; eliminating fossil fuels will destroy farming, transportation of goods, and greatly reduce the output of many things that require petroleum to produce, including medicines - some of which are actually needed - and zillions of other things that cannot be made, or made economically, without oil).
EV's do more HARM TO THE ENVIRONMENT than do internal combustion vehicles (lithium and other mining and refining; battery disposal; coal-fueled power plants to make the electricity for the cars; the added half-ton or more for the battery degrades roads faster, grinds down tires faster, and means EVs actually USE more energy to accelerate than non-EVs do).
Especially when they catch on fire, eh?
Yes. And that not only harms the environment (and sometimes kills people): it's getting a bunch more costly to ship EVs to market since at least two container ships carrying zillions of EVs have caught fire and sunk in the last year or two.
I wish I knew how to upload pic or video here. I have pic of burned out tesla on the street, and another home in flames where the fire started in the garage where a tesla was. You can see it burning in the massive flames that destroyed a two story house. Both of these are recent sent to me by a family member that is a fire fighter that was at both of these fires.
Serves em right.
