I will, count that as a big win.
God often turns that which is against him into a beacon for him. I have noticed a trend in the NFL that could be an example of this. Will have to wait and see.
They accept Jesus? This is the part of Christianity that bugs me. Jesus isn’t someone or something you accept. You repent of your own will and submit to Jesus. I accept that the chiefs will not win a super bowl this year but I am not going to submit my life to the chiefs. There is nothing worse than someone repeating the magical prayer and then living their life as if nothing changed. Believing is the key. But repentance is not turning from your sin or else it would be a work that you yourself did. Repentance is turning from your own will and submitting to the will of Christ. It’s a moment where you give up and give in. No work involved in this. I hope all 51,000 truly got born again but the truth is only a few probably did. I accept that joe Biden is the president but I in no way will submit to his lordship.
are you okay? this is clearly a great story.
TG8P is correct....much seed was planted. How much of it will root and grow? Christianity suffers from the experiential.
okay....but that applies to the entire faith. anyone can fall.
the divide is growing. it is becoming harder and harder to be a lukewarm Christian. and so many of our opponents are agnostic, atheist, satanist, whatever else... 51000 people opening their hearts to Jesus is excellent, regardless of whatever semantics you want to get hung up on.
It's not semantics. How do you manage the temptations of the devil? How will they? Takes a knowledge of the word of God.
It is good news but they are only being offered a small part of what God has made available.
it absolutely is semantics. you can't submit to Jesus without accepting Jesus.
I AM SURE THEY HAVE HEARD OF THE BIBLE LOL.
they have as many tools at their disposal as any other Christian. the offer is the same. you are just seeing a snapshot of their journey. all a a snapshot of a journey will inherently appear incomplete.
It is a start.
Don’t be fooled by the mainstream Christianity they are fooling others with. This is all for donations. I am a pastor. Ordained 5 years ago. I see this all the time. Billy Graham was famous for making people think they are saved only for them to be led to hell.
no, he wasn't famous for that. it may be true though, i don't know. what makes you think he led people to hell?
Repeat the prayer after me and Roman road to salvation. Repent of your sins is a false teaching. You cannot turn from sun. You turn from self and turn to Christ. It is the Holy Spirit that turns you from your sun or else it would be a work that you could brag that you did yourself.
what?? kinda sounds like you are just excusing your own lack of repentance from sin. anyways, not like he's the first Christian to say turn from sin. just because you'd phrase it differently doesn't negate the message when it is stated in other ways.
You don’t understand repentance. If one could repent of their sin to be saved then they are doing the work to be saved. Salvation is not of works. The Holy Spirit turns one from sin. If repentance meant turning from your sin then how do you explain the 20+ times in scripture that God himself repented? We are all sinners born with a sin nature. It is the miraculous in dwelling of the Holy Spirit that changes a persons desires. The rich young ruler is the perfect example. Telling someone that they must do some kind of work in order to be saved is heresy. Ye must be born again. Die to self and submit to Christ. No work involved in giving up self. But thanks for your watered down message!
doesn't the Holy Spirit prefer to dwell in those who act in certain ways?? it is your attitude toward God that invites Him, and how you carry yourself is part of that. if your actions don't match what you say to God, then you are not truthful to Him. what does giving up self mean to you?
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
This.
Yeah, each one reach one. Teach and undershepard those you have near you. Who is going to teach all those kids HOW? Being born again is everything, but walking g on the word In this life takes instruction. Where will the 51k get that?
They are leaving those poor kids for the slaughter of theybdont teach them how to study, renew their minds to the Word of God and operate the Power of the holy spirit.
I’d love to be able to deciple these kids. They will learn nothing if not taught how to study the word. Well said fren
Yeah, Breitbart changed the words of what the organization reported. Their Ministry Impact statement (here's 2022's) says there were 52K or so "Faith Decisions", which means athletes / coaches that signed up on a system that provides resources. Then it tracks how many bibles they distribute, how many camps they held, etc. So you're right, this is not about "accepting Jesus", but about numbers that the Board of Directors can advertise and hope for fundraising.
Yes. Jesus expects complete surrender to His will. Think of the rich young ruler that approached Jesus: "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus said, "Follow the commandments". Young ruler responds, "All these I have kept since childhood. What still do I lack?". Jesus zeros in on the man's issue: "Go, sell everything you own, give to the poor, then come and follow me". The issue is one of full surrender. The man walks away sad, because he loves his riches more than Christ. He serves his stuff as an idol and cannot leave that behind in surrender to Christ.
We all have our idols. We must be willing and eager to turn to Christ, begging the potter to mold the clay of our lives as He wishes. He is the potter, we are the clay.
Why u get a downdoot? This is true!
Darkness hates the light.
Easy believism is a like a vax for the true gospel. It It innoculates unbelievers to give this faith thing a spin. When they don't get instant results, they turn away, concluding that it's fake.
We should NEVER tell a "new convert" that they are saved. If we do, then we undermine the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Rom 8:16. We cannot see faith in another, and should never attempt to give the assurance that can only come from the Spirit.
Exactly. They should profess it themselves.
Repent and believe the good news. Mark 1:15. There is no saving faith without repentance. I pray these are all true conversions, but some will not be. Intellectual or emotional belief without repentance is not saving faith.
why everyone insisting they go the whole distance all at once? this is a great step. their faith could falter just as easily as anyone else's.
Not them the people leading them.
Many will say, havnt we done all these things in your name? And he will say depart from me.
