... Canada is set to have a banger of a year when it comes to resident outflows. There were 74,017 emigrants year to date (YTD), already hitting 79% of the total last year. The final quarter of 2023 can come in lower than the previous two years and still print one of the biggest years ever for outflows.
74K going out but 500K coming in is still extreme influx.
Also, I'd love to know who exactly is leaving and why. I think that's critical info.
... In short, Canada is being run like a dodgy, fly-by-night credit card company. Its operators don’t really care about losing clients, as long as the inflow of new ones outpaces the old ones. At a certain point though, a reputation develops and turns into a warning for new clients. Canada may have reached that point, with study permit applications declining sharply, indicating future population growth won’t be so robust. ...
Looks like good news, but maybe not. I think it means immigrants with skills will be shopping around, but "migrants" without skills are not going to be so picky. But perhaps that's Trudeau's plan anyway as he seems to be deliberately overloading the public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis which he can then swoop in to solve; textbook Cloward–Piven.
To where does one flee, when fleeing Canada. Polar bear infested ice flows?
Every winter they come down here to Florida.
I grew up in south Florida. Two recurring bumper sticker themes...
"Save the South - teach a Yankee to drive!" (actually not pointed at Canadians, focused on New Yawkers, Joisey, and their ilk)
"Will the last American out of Miami please bring the flag"
That was several decades ago - far, far worse now
I imagine somewhere decent in south America or Thailand, Malaysia Philippines. No point in sticking around. Take your money and run. Sad.
"That's why we need moar immigration!" /s
Never gave canada much thought ..been to the touristy spots..people (locals)..seemed the same as us..but more subdued
A couple of years ago there were lots of posts here regarding Canadians wanting to flee to USA and asking advice. There was a pretty long conversation then I asked:
So you want to come to USA for us to protect you? Are you willing to apply for US citizenship? The threads ended without an answer.
it's really difficult if you don't meet the criteria under the first world treaty. I for example would definitely go to the USA, but I can't meet the requirements to do it just because I want to. I'd be a really good citizen who cares more about America than several Americans do but it is what it is.
it can take years to save to meet the financial requirements to even apply. the requirements are pretty complex too. I am planning to apply when I am able. it will probably take me a decade. as if the USA will exist in a decade
