You can imagine Austin being secretly on site in a command bunker to witness the blood sacrifice of civilians in Belgograd.
Still I guess we have to apply the 48 hour rule and wait for a media release that sadly advises that "Secretary Austin has passed away from complications from his prostate surgery and his family request privacy in their time of grieving".
The "request privacy" is the clincher as they really, really, really don't want anyone finding out that he had to be flown home in a body bag from Ukraine.
The only problem is that the successor is always worse than the current office holder in these situations.
