I thank all of you for the prayers for my son's father-in-law! As I noted in the first post, his open-heart surgery was successful. However, he has been in pain since the surgery, and is retaining fluid. I don't know why they can't give him pain medication. Please pray that he gets through this! He couldn't sleep last night because of the pain! It is very discouraging for him and his family. Thank you!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for a successful surgical outcome. Please continue to heal the source of pain so this man can recover fully. Help us to give You all the praise, honor and glory that You so richly deserve.
If any in this family are not saved, help them to see that You are the One that died for their sins and You are the One that can give them an eternal life in heaven if they will only confess with their mouth and believe in their heart.
For those that are already believers, strengthen our faith, lead us not into temptation, deliver us from evil and help us to tell others about the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Praise Your wonderful name. We look forward to Your soon return. Amen
Amen
Amen!

Lord I pray for this beloved father...we praise you that his heart surgery was successful but now we ask that you help the doctors to fix these after surgery problems. I pray that the pain will be tolerable so that he can rest and recover. I pray the edema will subside so there are no additional problems. Please give this family the peace that passes understanding as they patiently pray for this dad to recover. We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus.
Amen
Amen

Heavenly Father, We pray that ePhDinNY's son's father -in- law would be relieved of pain and would be comforted by your presence. Please give him relief and cause him to start eliminating fluids. Give him and his family peace and strength. In Jesus name, Amen
No pain medicine? Thatβs barbaric. God, please help this man feel relief. I ask this in Jesusβ name. Amen.
pain meds thin the blood. I could see why they'd refrain from it after a heart surgery.
Since pain meds also affect the heart (od's cause the heart to stop, right?), that could also be a reason. I hope they know what they are doing :)
Thanks for the update. Maybe he can take CBD oil for the pain.
Good morning. I just received a message from my son that he was able to sleep some last night, and that a nurse said he is doing well. Thank you all! I'll post an update tonight; continued prayers much appreciated! (I told my son that I had an anonymous online group praying for his father-in-law :) )
The report from my son is that his father in law is doing much better! He said he walked 12 laps aorund the icu today, and swelling is continuing to go down. He appears to be in less pain too. Thank you all again for prayers, and more certainly won't hurt!
I'm waiting to hear how he is doing today. Thank you for the prayers!
I didn't get an answer back from my son last night in time to post, but his report was that the pain was more manageable for most of the day. The doctors say they don't know what caused the initial cardiac arrest. They will be putting in a defibrillator next week to hopefully keep him from having a cardiac arrest event in the future (technically, it wasn't a "heart attack" because he didn't have part of the heart muscle die from lack of blood flow, but his heat went into fibrillation, for unknown reason, which means if not shocked back into a normal rhythm in time, can result in death or brain damage. Fortunately, his event happened in a church gym, where they had one of those automated defibrillators. He had been working in a stream by his house in the country the day before, so it could have been MUCH worse! Thank you again for your prayers! I'll provide an update after the defibrillator installation.
Praying, fren.
