As noted in the interview, Black Americans in the US invariably have white ancestors as well. They do not even look like African black people.
I thought everyone already knew this . . .
BTW the parents of mixed race were more often a white female e.g. Irish servant and a black man (than a white slave owner raping a slave.) She, not being a slave, could buy his freedom, and their children were not slaves.
There are typically blacks on the PBS show Finding your Roots...almost every time a whitey is found in their family tree there’s a big pause...and the facial expressions are priceless.
I know I know...PBS...my wife likes it even though she’s one of us.
It is a great program for interesting people into their ancestry, and hence history.

The White Irish servant was an indentured servant (almost a slave) and the children were not automatically free. Read Irish Slaves in America.
Weren't some Irish indentured to blacks? I know some blacks held black slaves. Slavery was not about race! It was about who owned whom.
