New Jersey plastic bag ban caused 300% increase in plastic use, 500% increase in pollution, study shows | Blaze Media
A market research company found that after New Jersey banned single-use plastic bags, the amount of plastic used in the state for bags went up significantly, as did the amount of pollution created in production. Only the retailer benefited from the increas...
But at least it makes customers pay more for their grocery bags, hey?
Before, the plastic bags were free, now we have to pay $1 for a 'envionrenmentally friendly bio-degrunchable bag', who nobody recycles (it would be shameful to re-use one as it might have Covid on it). So, the used free bags are replaced by super-duper bags to collect garbage around the house. But at least they are dyed green.
Green-ness.
Fucking plastic bags. They’re nothing but “urban tumbleweeds”.
The biggest disgrace is not allowing for paper bags.
I kid you not. Not only did dickwad ban plastic bags, but paper as well!
So now you drive around with tote bags in your car, or much more likely, they are sitting on the floor at your house. As you mosey on into shoprite, fill up your cart and go to checkout, your heart stinks. The bags are in the house. I repeat, the bags are in the house!
Then you pay $500 for groceries that will get you 3 days worth of meals.
It's awesome.
"The bags are in the house. I repeat, the bags are in the house!"
I've done that. LOL
Every damn time
There's also the leaving the bags in the car angle. And wondering if it's worth getting them or what.
Paper bags violate the ADA. Older people with arthritic or weak thumbs have a hard time picking up paper bags. And they always make them too heavy. Constant complaints from my wife.
New Jersey should simply allow the disposable single use plastic bags, but every store must charge 10 cents for them, payable to NYC.
NYC should then pay 10 cents for every disposable plastic bag brought in to a city recycling center.
You wouldn't see any more stray plastic bags.
Forget plastic for a second because it's just stupid, all the products you put in the bag are wrapped in plastic anyway .. But...
Isn't paper biodegradable?
I'm at a loss why stores can't offer paper bags.
Calirado banned single use bags. And charges $0.10 to take a bag. Where does the illegal tax $$$ go!
