As a teen and young adult, i wasnt sure what i thought about “the issues”, but i spent a lot of time listening to TV news, reading newspapers, listening to people in real life talk about politics etc.

Eventually i started to “identify as” a liberal, because i thought i had “liberal values” such as believing in equal rights, labor unions, social security, etc

But i had a vorocious appetite for new knowledge. I would always go above and beyond in my school work. If the teacher assigned us to read a chapter, id read two chapters,

And later as an adult, i would find myself getting all of my info from a few key sources, which were left-leaning.

And they would always be talking about “a conservative said this”…

Or something to the effect of, “Trumps a racist”

And at first, i would just accept whatever i was reading…

because if someone says Trumps a racist… its probably true…

But then i found myself consuming all of the fresh left-leaning content that was available, and still be hungry for more news, opinions, and info,

And so i would head on over to the right-leaning places.

At the time, i was a regular on dailykos.com and their apparent arch rival was redstate.com

And what i found, was just jaw-dropping to me.

First of all, as obsessed as dailykos bloggers were about redstate bloggers, i was surprised to discover that redstate bloggers didn’t really have too much to say about dailykos.

It appeared to me to be kinda sad, that dailykos was obsessed with redstate, but redstate didnt know dailykos existed…

But what redstate did have, was much more depth and breadth.

redstate had 100X the breadth of subject matter. They were disussing topics that i didnt even know existed.

And the depth, was 100X deeper too. The articles were longer, had more details, like names, etc.

Like, people on the right just seemed so much more serious about politics.

Dailykos is busy slinging mud, calling someone a racist,

And heres redstate talking about an obscure bill, in an obscure state, by an obsure state congressman, and why it matters to you…

people on the right know the name of the secretary of defense.

Ask anyone on the left for the name of the seretary of defense, they will probably say Rumsfeld, and the only reason they know that much is because 9/11 and those wars.

But anyway, i think the point im trying to make is that a conservative is just a liberal, but more serious, and with a lot more breadth and depth of knowledge, and life experiences.

Whats your story?

How did you start to lean right?

Probably the one thing that triggered me, and tipped me toward the right, was when i heard that Ron Paul was being censored by big media…

At the time, i didn’t even know who Ron Paul was, but i was pretty upset about the idea of him being censored, so i wanted to hear what the man had to say, for himself.

I actually went looking for Ron Paul stuff and quickly discovered that he had a video on just about any topic you could imagine, and every time i listened to the man, i was blown away by what he was saying,

And i started to understand that something was very wrong in America, when someone like Ron Paul is being censored, for what i considered to be very reasonable positions on every issue.

If they were censoring Ron Paul, who else were they censoring?
