I'm old enough to remember lifeguards at the beach putting the white zinc on their noses and sun bathers putting baby / tanning oil all over themselves like they were getting ready to walk into a rotisserie oven.
Somewhere along the line, the powers that be flipped the script on us.
I used the chemical and found out it's so unagreeable to the skin, I stopped. I would rather get sun burn and put Aloe Vera. Then I found out about Zinc Oxide.
I grew up in the sun, with no sunscreens. As a mid life adult I became concerned about preventing sunburn (not prevent sun exposure), and use only zinc based sunscreen with no additives.
Heavy chemical laden sunscreens have been linked to a higher incidence of skin cancer!
You know about that now but back then, you remember, the pharma and all the commercials said if you don't use their chemicals, you will get skin cancer, right?
You can use zinc cream. I wouldn't touch the commercial sun screens. Just like everything else, it's crap. Causes skin problems.
YES!

Is it zinc, or zinc oxide? My two minutes of searching has only found zinc oxide sunscreen.
My understanding is it's zinc oxide, which is actually a sun block. Also has healing properties for sunburn and wound healing.
Good to know! Thank you
It's zinc oxide. Sticky as heck but good for you!
That sounds unappealing, but I'm going to get some anyway. Thanks!
Great. Better than those commercial sunscreen. Don't use those.
zinc oxide, same stuff in diaper rash cream
