Surrealism was created by artists who are unable to draw well, but doodle okay. One could compare one’s own doodles with Dali’s creations.
Many of the surrealism artists could draw very well, but chose to draw what was floating around their minds, in their subconscious. Dali was interested in Freud's writing on erotic subconscious meanings. I don't know how many did some form of drugs.
