I'm hearing a lot of "we didn't have a choice". Whether it was lose their job, get kicked out of school, or not be allowed to travel. As gently as possible, I've been re-focusing them on the fact they DID have a choice. A horrible one, admittedly, but a choice nevertheless. If the price was high enough, we found a way to avoid the shots. I think the lack of responsibility is a sign of a much bigger problem: Once we reestablish a healthy society, how are they not going to fall right back into the trap in the future?
I had it easy. I was already retired. It would have been much more difficult if I had a home, family and would have to knowingly lose the job, put us all on the street and give up the home and future.
My husband and I were also retired. But I still got pushback from another retiree who took several jabs in my community. She literally told me I would not be invited back to her home to play cards since I wasn’t vaxxed.
After that incident I kept my mouth shut. In my exercise classes many talked about taking the shots and how everyone should take them and how those who don’t are a risk to be around ya da ya d ya da.
I was retired as well, but my husband (a high school principal) chose to retire rather than to have to deal with it.
May you and husband enjoy a long retirement together.
Plata o Plomo?
Narcos was such a good show.
I tell them the same. A shitty choice but still a choice. Unlike the disabled, Indigenous, children and anyone else who was literally pinned down and forced. And yes that happened in Australia
