Proper seat belts and seats save lives. Watch racing. The 3 point belt and relatively flat seats in most cars are only good for a head on impact and barely above 40ish mph.

my life my choice. my wearing a seat belt will have no effect on anyone else involved in a car accident with me. I had a masectomy and the belt cuts. I refuse to wear. I would fight it in court and request an exemption from my doctor.

You can argue it all you want, but seat belts save lives. Many lives as many people drive poorly. And with that its a numbers thing... so society has accepted a law that saves lives if everyone follows it, even if not everyone is smart enough to just wear a seatbelt without a law and a fine compelling them to do so.
