As long as we have the day off, remember to honor the half-million American Civil War dead who gave their lives to reunite the United States and end slavery forever. The American tradition of barbecue shall bring us all together. It's as good as Summer, the weather is great, and why not have a second day equivalent to the 4th of July?

If, I get your point, people shouldn’t waste time complaining about Juneteenth being made a holiday, we should embrace it. That’s great advice! I think it was made a holiday because they think it will be divisive. If we embrace it, the DS loses.
I keep thinking we should celebrate it with a reenactment parade where a Republican rides in on his horse and tells the Dems they can no longer enslave the black population. It would be refreshing if we actually linked our holidays to their historical roots.
Then, after people have a chance to interact with the living history characters who tell the true story about the holiday, we have a community barbecue.
Exactly. The worst possible people made it a holiday for the worst possible reasons. We're making it about unity, not division!
If we are going to use it as a history lesson, we should announce:
Every American should know these key historical points. They should also be aware of the DS playbook and their continuous efforts to create division.
If we co-opt what they intended as a divisive holiday, we beat them at their own game. I don’t care what they call the holiday, what I care about is people learn the underlying history it commemorates. And, every point you listed is part of that history.
Well, you’ll need a boat and a white man to add to that parade.

Yep, a white Republican military officer.
And, just like the story is told on the clip you linked, the Democrats did everything they possibly could to prolong slavery.
That last sentence hits hard fren…they still are.
Some very good men gave there lives during the Civil War, especially in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. I live about 20 miles from there. I am happy that slavery was abolished and every Juneteenth should be celebrated by all Americans, all races and all Patriots!
Wait people get off work today? Fuck me, kek
Listen to Scott adams ...mass shootings every Juneteenth gathering
Ain't no day off here.
That is the way I have seen it celebrated, as black families gathering for food and fun, for over a decade.
Our ancestors freed them, we are welcome to celebrate, too.
Don’t forget to invite your Dad. Wait…
Big chunk of the country is under a heat dome. I would not call it a great weather.
Half of those dead were not fighting for reunification.
