Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
now that I think of it I had my cat kinda on my belly / my side last night and i couldn't sleep for awhile. My depression led me back to drinking so my stomach was killing me (pancreatitis several times before)..... i had been laying there for easily an hour just kinda petting him and letting out the occasional groan of pain
then i prayed and thats kinda the last thing i remember before i woke up
Praying you get back on the wagon. My dad’s family (brother, cousins, uncles) has a history of alcoholism. I was once an alcoholic believe or not in high school. I’d say most everyone I knew was an alcoholic or weed addict. My vice is chocolate and sweets. It’s been seven months on carnivore and I still crave sweets. Addiction isn’t fun! Glad you finally feel asleep and hopefully feeling better.
Hey, I'm going to DM you a question.
Im 35 and my grandfather on my moms side died from the bottle at either 36 or 38 so I know where this road leaves you
Even being a sugar addict can break you. I don’t keep it in the house. Yes I cheat sometimes but don’t bring it home. I saw your other post about this. I understand depression, I’ve had a few rock bottom times in my life. My mom died a few weeks ago and my husband and I were discussing me not getting down again. Thankfully he knows the signs. I probably have a mild depression or some anxiety mental disorder, my mom, me and my brother have had several episodes from mild to bad. It’s probably from growing up in the trauma of an alcoholic. He was very verbally abusive and can still have those episodes. I never got the brunt of his verbal abuse until I was eighteen and started standing up to him yelling at my mom and brother. He & my brother still have big arguments, my dad says it was just a conversation. He knows not to talk to me like that because I won’t be around him. Told him 32 years ago I had to grow up with it my daughter doesn’t and won’t be around it. He straightened up around her.
Please take care of yourself. Depression is a thief! It takes every bit of the goodness in us and lies to us until we believe we don’t deserve to be happy. It took me over forty years to realize people were not talking about me behind my back. It was really bad during PMS, took middle like crazy, it worked.
Look into carnivore diet, eating this way heals our bodies except for disk and bone injuries. I’m not 100% sure about depression being healed. Although it does heal the brain for Parkinson’s and dementia so it’s likely it heals mental disorders. Although the more damage we have in the body the longer it takes to heal. I’m in this boat because I have several chronic pain conditions. Dr Anthony Chaffee has some good informative videos on YouTube and rumble.
There are several herbs that might be helpful for depression. I know of St John’s Wort and take it regularly. If you attempt to search and can’t find information I don’t mind helping. FYI: St. John’s Wort interacts with about 300 prescription medications. Any herb can interact but some can be worse.
Also look into supplements and amino acids. Praying for you fren.
