I block all ads, on all platforms. I don't watch TV. I don't listen to radio.
Yet I seem to be just fine finding and buying products I want. Unless it's some brand new technology, I know what exists.. in which case that would be news, and I'd find out that way.
My point is simple.
If you can go to a company and tell them.
"Hey... I know a way that you can get new leads and customers without spending a dime on ads".
You would be one of the richest people in the world.
I will pay for that information.
I'm in no way disagreeing with you that ads make businesses money and are important to them. But you keep arguing about how great and necessary they are from a user perspective when that's just not true.
My argument is that ads are bad if they send you information that you don't care about.
How many times have you seen a Trump ad asking for donations. Most likely... that ad isn't going to annoy you as much as a none relevant ad.
Ad placement matters as well.
If someone pops up a random ad out of no where. That's a very bad customer experience and will annoy most people.
Marketing is like Dating.
No one cares if someone is hitting on them if they find the other person attractive.
As soon as that unattractive person tries to hit on them. They not annoyed and not interested.
In other words, yes, a parasite needs a host, but in no way does a host need a parasite.
