I’d be curious to see if it has the same effect on adults. Their program seems more or less to rely on nailing it early enough that the child hasn’t had much time to start mental development.
Which makes sense given Autism is a developmental disorder.
Any adults/teens/older kids either need to wait for a new treatment to be developed. Experiment themselves. Or accept they are just SOL.
And while it’s great we can now potentially head it off at the pass. Supposing this treatment does what they believe it will and be permanent.
Here's a drug that helps..
The drug is called suramin. "The main finding was that a single dose of suramin was safe and produced improvements in language, social interaction and restricted and/or repetitive behaviors in five children with ASD [autism spectrum disorder]," said study author Dr. Robert Naviaux.May 26, 2024
Seems this is what was tried:
Interesting.
Don't know if it's a coincidence but the kids I know with autism all seem addicted to pasta (wheat/gluten) and cheese (dairy).
It's been known for decades that high doses of niacin (vitamin B3) was successful in treating all kinds of mental disorders including autism and schizophrenia. Of course niacin has the burning effect so niacinamide can also be used but it's not as effective.
I've suspected this since one of my nephews was diagnosed as a 7 yr old, but with counseling and therapy was able to progress to the point that he's now just a "normal" 17 yr old. Albeit, a straight A student and extremely good guitar player.
I've always been told that the brain is wired entirely differently. No diet or medicine can change how your brain is wired after it has developed its wiring. I knew I was different by 3rd grade, when it seemed to me that everyone else had a secret rule book that I didn't have a copy of.
Also, I don't want to be cured now. I'm 70 and used to Asperger's. I love my ability to concentrate on research and never give up. I also love my IQ. Since I'm somehow "defective," I look at the general public around me, and they seem incredibly stupid. Perhaps they are. :)
I've also been told that this may be the next step in evolution, even though I don't believe macro-evolution has ever happened.
