Not necessarily a good analysis (talks about "carbon emissions", etc.) but still identifies how globalist corporations have been for decades uprooting natural organic variety in architecture and urban planning and imposing their fake plastic crap on us.
This really got me thinking:
If everything looks the same, if you have the same chain outlets and same architecture everywhere, then why travel? You're not broadening your horizons or having a unique cultural experience. So, why not stay home in your "15 minute city", eh?
I doubt that when Levitt started building his Levittown suburbia in the 1950s that "15 minute cities" were a gleam in anyone's eye. But the logic of standardization of everything in the built environment certainly leads in that direction.
A critical point the host makes right at the end is that consumers seem to WANT this kind of predictable standardization. It's popular, now, anyway. Perhaps not so much a century or more ago, where local differences and variety were appreciated and valued. Travel was for seeing the differences, broadening your horizons, etc. Difference and "local character" were valued.
There is something psychological going on, because all this love of a standardized, packaged, experience corresponded with New Deal/Great Society shift towards government controlling more and more aspects of life.
Collective psychological fallout from WWI/depression/WWII? It must have been an incredibly turbulent time for people born in the the early part of the 20th century to have lived through that. Did it make the people of that generation desperate for stability, for "big daddy government" to look after all our problems? A desire for "big business" to provide a seamless, problem-free shopping/living experience when there were so many problems in other aspects of life?
Perhaps that PTSD and the collective psychological need for protection and security by government and business (rather than self-reliance and self-governance) did ultimately lead to the WEF/Club of Rome/rest of Cabal's control.
At least, that's my theory for the moment....

It's called 'brutalism'. It's a communist tactic to degrade the morale of a people. It is a total assault on your creative mind and instils a feeling of hopelessness. A hopeless-feeling people cannot well rise against tyranny, nor escape it.
Agree... in the late 60´s as a teenager I discovered https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Nouveau and fell in Love with it... such a pity this Architecture/Art style did not continue, but was slowly replaced by more rigid, unnatural square forms of Art Déco and Modernism wich I still find ugly.
Big fan of Art Nouveau and also some Art Deco. Especially in machine design. Sad to see how far we've drifted away from aesthetics, beyond utilitarian and over to ugly.

I've been calling newer-built houses, small and large, 'McMansions' for what seems like ages!
New houses with all the environmental and Green Agenda BS will likely need to be torn down if they cannot be repurposed or reconfigured. Anything “standard design” built after ~2005 appears to be intentionally low quality with substandard materials and design.
We are seeing this in prices with older houses, well-maintained much more valuable than nearly everything new. Inverted price curve new-to-old on similar square footage comp. New house prices would collapse by 50-90% if not being held up by BlackRock’s Alladin AI bidding them up unlawfully. They are garbage.
This is LEVEL1, trapped in the “consumer ecosystem” or MATRIX as intended. Note that each “standardized” retailer/restaurant is a Brand Monopoly selected and promoted by endless marketing fiat $. Setup the trap, promote it into peoples heads in unavoidable way, then convince them it’s what they wanted while removing all other options (except controlled opposition or owned fake competitors) through various manipulative means.
LEVEL2 - The “standardization” in the guise of development or progress allows the old structures, business, restaurants, and institutions to be driven out of business and then torn down without anyone noticing. This is the REAL objective. Full control in a ‘New World Order’ with no alternative.
To me everything being built is now grey, square/boxy and looks awful. All of the new apartments being built in the St. Louis are are so friggin' ugly, they all look alike. All of the cars seem to be grey, black or white. I you want a bright red car you have to pay extra. Friggin' Commies!!
I agree with your theory. Looking from a recent perspective far away: I do live in a Big City in Brazil, the Blackest City outside Africa worldwide! Shopping Malls here are still very popular. The reason is simple: 1. safety 2. it mimics a small town where you can find everything in walking distance. 3. there is a separation of the Classes through the prices (there are Shopping malls for upper class, and others for lower class) You find the same Shops/Restaurants all over Brazil and it all looks the same.When travelling, I go first to the Old Markets (1800s) where one can still see the differences in local culture.Those Markets are all mainly about food and some typical local craftmanship and Souvenirs.

Indeed, the African-Brazilian population live mostly in Favelas, wich they glamourized during the Lula admin and are called "Comunidades" now. They are kept stupid via schools. This started to get really in the face since the first Lula leftist Gov back in 2003. Lula was in charge since 2003 with the only real interruption was one term of Bolsonaro who did miracles with his team they even came out of the Plandemy as the Country that handled the crisis the best WW! Inflation below the ones in EU and US. Now if you are pretending to visit, it depends what your focus would be: Nature? Culture? Beaches? The Closest to African Culture would be the City of Salvador, Bahia, where I live. While the South of Brasil ( Paraná/Santa Catarina/ Rio Grande do Sul) is heavily European influenced. German Oktoberfest, Italian culture among others. I´ll be happy to give you some Tips.

Although the stores are all chain stores, the experience of walking through a mall would be very much like walking through the downtown of a small town 200 years ago: storefronts and small restaurants, the "food court" being like the "town square". It's all fake and plastic physically, but it does meet a human psychological need.

I think alot of it also boils down to vapid MBAs in control of the companies who buy/have buildings built. They often look for cheap, and conforming options as their corporate mindset is afraid to stand out. It's a hive mind mentality really. Additionally, the focus on the beauty of architecture which was quite prevalent in the first half of the 20th century seems to be largely missing from peoples conciousness.
