I am seeing an influx of anecdotal accounts of peoples sunflowers 🌻 all facing south or south east. It seems people are reporting this all over the country. I dont have anyone close to me speaking to this. Any truth to it?

As the sun moves, so will the sunflower heads to follow it. But as summer turns to autumn and the sunflowers get big and ripe and heavy with seeds, they will stop moving. I’d double check people have their cardinal directions right. In my personal experience.
Some anecdotal reports of strangeness can be explained by ignorance, confusion, mistaken belief, or just plain stupidity on the part of the observer.

Mine have been rotating normally this year no problems. Western PA. Growing wasn't the best this year most plants hardly had crops sadly.
Same in Ireland, was warm enough but few tomatoes compared to last year. Corn a no show.
Grapes are late, blueberries and everything else were fine. Root vegetables are ok.
I wonder is this the start of the CO2 reductions?
Having my morning coffee now barefoot in the garden, sun is out, but no heat off it.
I got some tomatoes and a few peppers but the corn, lettuce, squash, pumpkins, ect all failed to grow properly.

Yes, my experience as well out here in Pacific Northwest, my small vegetable garden has not produced very much.

Yep. They have full sky and they faced east all day long. Some of the smaller ones would turn vertical. They are mostly dying now and are covered with leaf cutters.
Here in Southeast Michigan at the end of August, the leaves are changing color. I have even seen some trees that have lost all their leaves. I began noticing this about a month ago when the trees at the edges of the woods started getting some color. This is a full 6 weeks early. The burning bushes are already red. This doesnt happen until the last week in September or 1st week of October. We are at least 4 to 6 weeks ahead of a normal fall leaf schedule.
Meanwhile, the golden rod seems on schedule, the sumac and ivy havent gone red in the woods yet and the shrubs, besides the burning bushes, are still green. Shrubs usually go before the tree leaves and sumac and ivy change just as the leaves get first color.
They are fucking with our climate in a big way.
I'm in Oz. I noticed summer turned to autumn early here too. It's winter at present and here we've had f all rain.

Its been a scorching summer for the midwest and apparently sunflowers face away from the sun when the heat is too much to handle or when they're malnourished from weak soil.
Come to think of it, mine are facing SE too.
