Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
So my mother has started to lose control of her urine at night. Started wearing pads. She's considering getting some really, really expensive pills just to make her stop.
Stepdad's started the same, apparently due to some age-related prostate thing.
What nutrients are needed to deal with this? Or is this just something they'll have to deal with?
I don't know the answer, but on Telegram there is a Natural Health channel called NHK chat that is filled with extremely well-informed folks (a brain trust really). I would join it and ask there.
My mom use this method for my dad … I didn’t ask how long it take to heal but he was healed https://youtu.be/GWNDjaDtKEM
For men I like and use multi-pollen extracts, (flower pollen, not to be confused with bee pollen, so make sure no allergies, I do not seem to have allergic reactions from the pollen extracts, even though in springtime breathing in pollen would cause me to have an allergic storm.). _And there’s tomato sauce and paste with lycopene. I am going to try a non-tomato based lycopene supplement soon, capsules, as I think the concentrated amount per capsule will be good for me (tomato-based lycopene should be okay for people who can eat nightshades including tomato). ____ Also be careful of brands, make sure no pesticides used on the flowering plants. Integrative and holistic doctors might be able to give you guidance. Best to ask and and see what works!
I know that there are PT excercises that can tighten certain muscles, also, any spinal deterioration can cause pinched nerves in the lumbar spine that can cause issues, and there are tightening excercises to do with abs and buttock muscles to support the lower back which then supports the sphincter from the bladder. Those pills are full of side effects, make sure she knows to use the bathroom and to not wait to hold it, to not drink anything a couple of hours before bed, and when she does go to make sure she empties the bladder completely. Also to not have a lot of shame about it, it is normal with age, the best we can do is keep up muscle tone and change some habits. I know if I drink anything at night, like a nice cup of herbal tea for relaxing, to not go to sleep because I will just wake up an hour or 45 minutes later to use the bathroom again, my sister used to be up every 2 hours going to the bathroom when she was in her 70's, and tired from lack of sleep, I finally convinced her to stop having that glass of wine before bed, and it helped a lot.
