The hurricane knocked out my power for several days but I had half my freezer full of ice bags and I only lost a few food times because of a large fridge and freezer in my home. Most small apartments and studios can not have such a luxury. In fact I have space in the garage to put in another fridge as a backup for the next hurricane season that I am considering.
Our government used to teach and encourage self-reliance and an independent citizenry. Take those old flyers telling people to grow hemp, produce, livestock, etc. Chickens were considered an essential resource to manage by an American citizen.
