We need to let the right people in our country we have people here that don't care about us Americans, they are here to enrich themselves and nothing else. No attachment to the community so they don’t care what people are going through.

nothing wrong with a private citizen demanding higher prices when the product they sell comes into extremely high demand. on the reverse though, publicize who the PEOPLE are that own these businesses and boycott their asses in anything they do in the future...

Supply and demand. If you don't like it shop somewhere else...unless you want the government telling you how much profit you're ALLOWED to make. I always avoid businesses that employ a disproportionatly large number of foreigners.

Although competition and demand drive prices in our free-market economy, during a declared state of emergency the Governor may prohibit price increases on items that he considers to be “necessary” to preserve, protect, or sustain the life, health, or safety of persons or their property. The Governor must identify the specific goods and services to which the “price gouging” law applies. Price increases on the products and services specified by the Governor are only permitted if they accurately reflect an increase in the cost of new stock or the cost to transport it, plus the retailer's average markup percentage applied during the ten days immediately prior to the declaration of a state of emergency.

The Governor can declare a state of emergency in response to, or in anticipation of, a natural disaster or a national security emergency. All counties in the state are covered, unless the executive order declaring the emergency is limited geographically to certain counties. The Georgia Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division has the authority to investigate allegations of price gouging. Violators can be fined from $2,000 to $15,000 per violation.

Price gouging ensures people who would otherwise not sell will bring their goods to market. You don't have to buy at that price, but it makes it available for someone truly in need.

I wouldn't sell my extra 5 gallons of gas at $3, but I would consider it at $10. That brings an additional 5 gallons that would have not been there otherwise.

The local community should come together and orchestrate a long term boycott where not a single person in that town purchases anything from Pope's ever again. Let them go out of business. They didn't take care of the local community when a disaster happened, then the local community should repay the favor and not take care of that business when the disaster is cleaned up.

My brother , who lives near there just texted me about this a few hours ago, it is real.

They shut the station down. Film all people gouging. When the dust settles, boycott these people into Bankruptcy. Edit: They should have rationed the gas. Because if they did sell at regular price, someone else might have bought up all the gas and they would have started profiting. The most sensible thing to do was limited what people could purchase so there was a little gas available for everyone in town.

The governor could easily ban price gouging. But considering the strike now on, it may be difficult to even get gas, so prices nationwide will climb.
